FSSR ... No, it is not a crack in the earth or an inclusion in a precious gem but a real estate market term.

FSSR is a earth from outer spacecondition, stands for "foreclosure, short sale, repossession" related, affected, tainted real estate sales. From outer space a new comer in a silver saucer hovering over earth, looking in could easily get the wrong impression about FSSR.

From monitoring media reports, real estate agent and broker blog posts claiming FSSR is everywhere. Blanketing the nation from coast to coast, stem to stern.

Like an epidemic when reality shows four states are the heavy weights for FSSR. Not all fifty represented on the American flag's starred blue section.

Real estate agents, brokers, REALTORS can whine the media is blowing up what has happened in one area and trying to apply the same news report in typical "one size fits all" fashion. Like it does with other news reports about events on the blue and green marble.

Reality calls for a little real estate public relations training to help get the facts straight, the truth out.

Maybe part of the problem is the areas most affected by FSSR whine the loudest.

Like a radio station claiming "All the whine all the time".

Areas of the country bloated with unemployed real estate agents, brokers, REALTORS with high levels of FSSR in their housing market join the chorus of dispair. Desperately scurrying to find enough musical empty chairs at the long genuine imitation real estate closing table. Hoping to be invited to attend, have a commission check with their name typed on it slid their direction in lawyer and bank conference rooms in their zip code.

FSSR news should not be a rehash of where it is the combat zone for the real estate condition. The local news should not repeat the same destructive mantra. As a real estate blogger, post the truth in YOUR area. And when you blog remember it is not just your inside voice any more. Make sure to preference comments, especially woes about real estate FSSR that could be beeping loudly on the Geiger counter because it is high with radition in your GPS coordinates.

But remember you do not speak for the nation with your outdoor recess real estate blogging voice.

Maine, we don't like debt, roll up our sleeves to not be a prisoner from it. Maine is 46th lowest for FSSR and you can buy, own any type of low cost real estate here. And enjoy life the way it should be in the 4th lowest crime state.

Andrew, the hard working fiscally conservative folks in Maine now have a real estate market that is considerably different than some of the free-wheeling practices of those down here in Florida.  A good reminder that all real estate is local and markets vary - a lot!

Right on Andrew. So much of all our jobs is the re-education of buyers and sellers as to the nature of our local markets. Prices here are up 9% from 2009 to 2010 and continue to stay strong. Inventory is low and properly priced homes are receiving multiple offers. It is tough to find an REO any more and when you do you will be competing to win.

So folks...ALL REAL ESTATE IS LOCAL!!!!

Gabe ... Our fun is no or low cost and properties for $40,000 don't take long to pay off when you double up on payments. We avoid debt like some with wallets thick with plastic are attracted to it like moths to a bug zapper UV light.

S and J ... There is always a market and the approach, how you present it shows the openings for real estate buyers to "buy in". But if lamenting how hard it is, how bad FSSR is, you miss the way to turn it around and get more market share than others in it wearing the "R" wish you did.
