As documented on my main blog a while back, a group of us have undertaken farming Westbrook Village, an active adult community in Peoria. I'd originally planned to have the website live by the start of November but life (and a lack of biographical and other information) slowed things down.

I am, however, happy to announced that WestbrookVillageRealEstate.Com is live as of about 10 minutes ago. Here's what I know needs to be fixed:

  • E-mail links are not live - they will be later tonight
  • The links page is not functional
  • Headline number three doesn't yet link to an article - it will tonight
  • Sold page needs to be populated
  • META tags and separate Titles for each page will be added tonight before I submit to the search engines

Much like Disneyland, we decided to open the doors even as the workers put the finishing touches on everything. And while Walt wasn't much of a fan of criticism, I'm inviting my fellow Active Rainers to Break My Website! I really ought to offer some sort of a prize but it's been a slow month ... maybe Tobey will pass along a few Milk Bones.

Seriously, take the tour and let me know what you think ... how is what we have, what else should we add, etc.

Your help is greatly appreciated!

I cant remember the gal's name but she was the original builder's salesperson for Westbrook Village.  She opened up a brokerage back in 2000 to service them.  I thought she had a lock on that community.  Your website looks great.

I did a few deals for a few of her agents but they were extremely difficut to deal with and she was putting pressure on me to lease an office from her.

Probably Westbrook Realty, which was then bought out by Russ Lyon. Russ Lyon still has the dominant share, to the tune of about 25% of the business ... which leaves the rest up for grabs, the way we look at it.

"Opening the doors while the workers put the finishing touches on everything", sounds a bit like ActiveRain yet we're still trying to put a roof on the house.

I'll go take a look...

Jonathan, very impressive!  One thing I would check on is the font on your banner.  For some reason, it is coming through very poorly on my piddly 14" laptop screen.  The letters are very blurry and don't look so hot.  You may want to change this.

Matt ... it does, doesn't it?

Stefan ... the banner started larger and I shrank it today when I saw how large it really looked. That may be some of the reason for the distortion in the letters. I'll take a second look and see if I can get it to look a little clearer.

I didn't look through the entire site (sorry - so little time), but it looks great!  My own personal preference would be maybe a little bigger font, or maybe a dark blue against the yellow. That's just the surface though - what I liked is that it actually has good custom content in it. Informative vs canned, or generic. Good job!

I know that you're sticking with the traditional C21 color scheme but Mary McKnight's blog about branding sure reinforced my thoughts about color schemes.

Color selection guide

Colors that build trust: navy blue, forest green, deep purple

Colors that say economy: yellow, electric blue, red
Colors that reflect wealth: maroon, black, gold

Colors that connect with the past 60 crowd: pale and muted colors like kelly green, mauve and baby blue.

Did you purposefully pick out the color scheme to attract "wealth" as opposed to the "over 60 crowd" or were you sticking with the company color scheme?
