We all need some time for ourselves

We all need to take time for ourselves - to relax, and most importantly recharge. We do so much during the course of a day, and the thrill of the deal (or whatever it is we are doing) gets us excited. Or worried. Or sad. Sometimes even angry and mad.

We need to take time for ourselves, and schedule it. Otherwise we will never get to relax.

Think of human heart for example. It's is beating  non-stop so that we live, if it stops - we die. That's the common perception. But in reality heart is contracting with a short delay in between contractions. These are times when heart can rest, so that it works effectively for the whole term of our life.

Our work in real estate is demanding and sometimes emotiuonally draining. We need to take short delays to stay emotionally healthy.

What can be done?

Think of what makes you happy. What can help you switch your attention?

My help is oftentimes youtube. You can watch a short music video (3-5 minutes long), and really take your mind off things. One can also watch 2 -3 related or completely unrelated videos, and recharge even more.

Of course one can get sidetracked and watch videos whole hour, in order to prevent that I sometimes turn on a timer, and give myself say 10 minutes total for searching youtube and watching the videos. or I gibe myself a count: say, today, I watch 3.

With the right set of headphones one can watch videos in an office setting without disturbing anyone. One can also listen to music - and that's what many people do. I notice though, that music soon becomes a background of whatever you are doing, and while this is a good thong, it does not necessarily serve as a "delay between contractions of the atria".

Now, you might have another recipe of how to recharge yourself quickly and easily, would be nice if you could share.

And I will include here one of the videos I recently discovered. It's a French singer called Zaz. Highly recommend checking her out!

Hi Nellie, thanks for stopping by :) You know, both my daughters love Zaz as well, and always ask to put on her CD when we are driving. It's good driving music :)

Anna, and that is precisely why I am in a class right now at our company to take back some of my life! Time blocking and you're right, those short get aways are wonderful. Active Rain is a get away for me. I get to learn and visit with my online buds!
