My friend Doug Anderson, East Bay Real Estate in Danville, CA posted this wonderful blog about Lending a Hand Day in his community.

It's great to see a town that helps Senior Citizens at no cost to them by cleaning up their yards and doing some repairs around their homes.  I would love to see more communities doing this.  I am sure the recipents of this team effort were very grateful....  Thank you Doug and thank you Danville for chosing to get involved and help out your community.

If you dont know Doug here on AR I suggest that you go over and check out his post's and subscripe to his blog.  He's a really great guy whom I'm sure you will enjoy getting to know!

Town of Danville Lend a Hand DayAs I sit down to catch up a bit on Active Rain this afternoon I am starting to feel the reward of a few aches and pains associated with the Town of Danville’s “Lend A Hand Day”. In its seventh year the purpose “provides senior citizens no cost yard clean up and minor home repairs”. This year Stacey & Todd Galde, our coach for the Rookie Yankees, coordinated the event for our team and both deserve a special thanks.

Our day started with a 8:30 practice with the boys before the 9:00 game with the Cubs. After a couple of hours and a complete game in we headed over to the home assigned to our group. This was an elderly couple who just needed a good spring cleaning. The boys, girls and parents put in a few hours of cleaning out the front and back yard and the results were both fantastic and appreciated. We all had a good time, some snacks and pizza, and hopefully gave the young ones a valuable lesson in giving back to the community. After leaving we had a chance to enjoy some goodies at the Cold Stone Creamery in Danville's Livery....yum.

Thanks to all those who participated in the Town of Danville's “Lend a Hand Day”!

Great re-blog. I like the concept of the Lend a hand day. This idea should be copied by other communities.

 Blooming for home buyers!
