CollageHi Everyone,

This Friday marks the end of my first three weeks on the job.  Let me tell you: it has been one of the most thrilling and terrifying three weeks of my life.  I have a 5 year old and a 3 year old daughter.  I actually think becoming a first time parent was less intimidating than stepping into the CEO job at ActiveRain. :)

ActiveRain is and has always been about our wonderful community of real estate professionals.  I have gotten an opportunity to speak and communicate with many of you already.  

I REALLY want to hear from more of you: what does ActiveRain mean to you? 

At the urging of one of our illustrious members, I am announcing a competition, but no ordinary competition - a COLLAGE competition.  "A collage?" you ask.  Yes, a collage.  You know, the art form that your kids brought back from school at some point.  According to Wikipedia, a collage is any art or "assemblage" made of  "different forms, thus creating a new whole."  Collages can be made of newspaper clipping, photos, ribbons, "found objects" or almost anything attached to a canvas. Or, since it's 2011 you can do one the new fashion way (is that the opposite of old fashion?) and use an online collage making website.

The Collage Competition:

  • Tell us what ActiveRain means to YOU in a collage
  • Before May 31, 2011, take a picture of your collage or save a digital image.  Post the image as a comment to this blog AND email kerrie@activerain.com.  No late entries will be accepted in the competition.
  • No adult content!  Keep the content of your collage within the ActiveRain Community Guidelines.
  • The team at ActiveRain will select the top five collages and have the community vote on the winner.
  • The prizes are as follows:
    • 1st Place: 5,000 points
    • 2nd Place: 3,000 points
    • 3rd Place: 2,000 points
    • 4th and 5th place: 1,000 points
    • 100 points for every entry submitted (one per person/member)
  • For the fifth anniversary of ActiveRain RainCamp and BBQ on June 20-22, we are going to print out and decorate the office with the collages sent in by the members.

I shut down the computer and tried again.  I don't seem to be  having problems, except with AR! :) Thx so much for responding.  Nice pic. :)  And, no it did not work.  I can't upload on my blogs either.  This is a first.  Been having issues with AR for about 6 weeks now.  It doesn't seem to matter what computer I use.  I even tried my IPAd...nothing.  I need to go show a couple homes, I'll try again later.  Thanks so much.

ActiveRain collageHere I am, number 145 (maybe) with my competition collage.  Here's a link to the post I wrote about it, explaining in depth.  ActiveRain means so much to me, not the least of which is, I'm growing older.  I've been here for five years next month.  This is a two part (and should really be at least three) in order to acknowledge so many of the people whose blogs are part of my life.

I guess if you snooze you lose. I had no idea that there was a contest going on. However, I have seen some pretty amazing posts with members putting together some awesome collages. I just didn't know there was a contest. I wondered how they did it and I wanted to try my hand at making a collage.

I recognize the faces of so many people on ActiveRain, i.e., in Praful's above. These are great people whom I have come to know, recognize, and respect. I look up to the people who have touched my life, given me positive feedback, taught me something new, made me laugh, cry, wonder, and analyze things, I never paid attention to.

ActiveRain came into my life at a time, when I needed it the most. I never had any blogging experience, and I'm still a rookie, learning from the best and the best is here on ActiveRain.

My collage is late, I finally, thanks you Niki am able to upload and blog with lightening speed now.  There are dups and not everyone showed up but I will get the hang of this program.  Everyone's are so nice.  I love the heart shaped ones and all the reason.

 

I have made many friends over the past 9 months of earning my 200,000 points.  It's been a wonderful experience.  And, because I couldn't get them all in the collage.  I will work on it and see I can add the rest. :)  Thank you for taking the time to get me back on track.  :) Gail

Valerie Zinger and I came up with a great umbrella idea, it was mostly Valerie since she is the market mastermind.  I suggested we submit a contest.  She came up with an umbrella idea, that I still think is a winner.  Hopefully, someone will give a go ahead.

We all love points.  :)  Also, Sally Weatherley, Barbara Hensely are great, too.   How about the two that spell out AR... how in the world can you chose. :) Great work.

Gail, great post. You said, there are dups - and I am there 3 times - thanks a lot (I had to use magnifying glass, though..lol)

It was a great contest - and irrespective of points, I have learned a new trick - and will see how I can use this to my benefit on my business.
