"Be still and know that I am God."

By
Real Estate Agent with None

I have recently broken my right foot and sprained my left ankle while showing a house.  At first, it felt like another obstacle to get through.  While I have had a somewhat difficult year in real estate, it was quite frustrating.  I started my year off slow, and moved my license to a new company during peak season.  I have a sister who is also in real estate who's business is booming, and I began to wonder if I should consider a career change.  I have been working 3 jobs to make ends meet, and was about to start a 4th job days after my accident.  I felt like I was in a hole, and no matter how much I clawed and scratched, I kept falling in deeper.

Thanks to my insightful mother, she reminded me that the last time I broke my ankle (5 breaks total), that a major life change occurred.  At that time in my life I was also trying to do too much.  God wanted to sit me down, and BE STILL and listen to HIM.   I believe God was wanting to get my attention, and He did just that!  I have come to realize that I can be successful in anything that I do as long as I put HIM first.  God has exploded on me this past week!  He has rewarded my willingness to push on no matter the obstacles!  I can not wait to see what my future real estate career has in store!  As long as God is in control, I can do anything!

"For I know the plans I have for you, plans to proser you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.  Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.  You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart."  Jeremiah 29:11-13

Once again, my favorite Bible verse holds true!!!

Kelly

We may not always like His plan, but if every day of our lives has been decided for us, we are merely stewards of what He seeks. The broken ankles are might just be His sense of humor to make you pay attention. :)

Hi Kelly,  I have never met anyone who has broken their ankle 5 times.  Wow what a record....if you can do that five times to an ankle and still be walking, you most certainly can sell those houses.  Keep it up and have faith in God because He never fails us, we just fail him.  Great testimony.  You are a natural for blogging...keep on with your blog and real estate will fall into you lap.  And...since we work in the same  real estate company, next time you see me at the sales meeting, let's talk about that ankle....and real estate.  Kay

Hi Kelly, I know how you feel in reference to how some Realtors are having an incredible year, while others are struggling. I have made the decision to continue to have faith in Him, and I know that he will make the way where there seems to be no way. I pray that he will heal you quickly, and begin to prosper you, as his promises have said. Keep holding on to that verse, it is a promise from God that WILL be fulfilled!

Kelly,

Great post. I think once I finally understood that many things are out of my control and in the hands of God everything fell into place and continues to do so. God Bless.

Kelly,

I was reading some verses in James today with some buddies and we were discussing the way we plan our lives and expect God to bless. As you say sometimes God needs to sit us down so we will be still and submit and humble oursleves and then we learn we work for him not for us.

I also was reading a novel recently by Michael Curtis Ford which talked about the parable by Jesus of the landowner and the Talents, not a Christian novel but this part was an eye opener for me. Two characters are discussing this parable, and one suggests what if there had been a fourth servant who went out and used his talents but lost everything in some deal. How would the landowner/God have reacted? His answer was God would have been pleased and blessed that servant for not hiding his talents. So sometimes it is not that we are succesful, but that we are not hiding our talents and God will bless us.

So be blessed and heal quickly.

Kelly, one my most favorite bible verses too.  I hope you recover soon and things pick up for you in real estate.  I've learned in my short time in real estate that staying positive, and continuous effort and a lot of prayer is what it takes.

God is good. ALL the time. Not sometimes, not when He may or may not feel good. But a constant flow of his abiding LOVE in us. What a good thing.

A very telling post.

You're soo right, we should always put God first and do what he planned for us to do.

Eph 2:10  For we are God's masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so that we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.

I pray that you'll get well soon!

I was looking for a verse on ankles but came up with this instead "Therefore, strengthen your feeble arms and weak knees. Make level paths for your feet so that the lame may not be disabled, but rather healed."

Hebrews 12 :12 & 13

Walk a moral walk to help others who are weak in their faith strong.

May you have a speedy and faith filled recovery.

Kelly,

I haven't broken an ankle, but I have broken each of my wrists after becoming a Realtor.  The first was my right wrist, and I'm very much right-handed.  The dr. put a beautiful pink cast on and I don't know if it was sympathy from buyers and sellers, but other agents in my office were teasing that they, too were going to get casts put on.  My business kept getting busier and busier and the wonderful part was that top agents in my office insisted on writing my listings and my contracts until I could write.

Then a couple years later on Dec. 23, I fell and broke my left wrist.  That Christmas was different, everybody in our family pitched in and did the cooking, baking, last minute wrapping.  My dr. suggested that he take the cast off carefully and then we could put it back on the next year to get me out of the holiday duties again.

I agree with you so much, if we put God and family before our chosen career, all will work out the way it should be.

Sometimes I think God brings us to our knees so that we will look up to Him and know that he is Lord over all.

Keep smiling and giving God the Glory.

Kelly,

Nice post! Have you tried walking on your hands:^) That's one of my favorite passages also---except I'm guilty of praying with one eye opened! If I could just LEAVE it at his feet!!! Thanks,   Fran
