I Am In. Who Is Next?

My friend Jon Zolsky has just come up with an ingenious idea for a Rain Camp - a cruise! I'm in and so is Frank... he just doesn't know it yet. So let's see how the AR staff responds to this brilliant plan!

There is a celebration coming and Seattle will be hosting it. I am sure it would be interesting, but it is far from me and many others. Of course, it is always a problem for half of us. What is home to half of us, is far for the other half. Isn't it one of the nice problems of being a national and even international network?

I want to suggest a different way of celebrating. Why don't we, Active Rainers, get together and book a whole cruise ship and go on a cruise. Seriously. I saw an unbeatable offer today for Royal Caribbean sailing from Port Canaveral on November 7 for a 4-nights cruise to Bahamas for only $189 plus $92.10 for all fees and taxes.

November is excellent. It is still nice and warm in Bahamas, and not as warm in most everywhere in the country. Of course, this was a deeply discounted offer for Floridians, but I am sure that if we approach a cruise line with such offer, they will gladly match or even beat this price for as long as they would not have to spend all the money on marketing and selling.

ActiveRain CruiseSo what if we need to get 2,000 people to sign for a cruise? With 206,906 members it is 1%. But this would be different from what AR did and is doing. On a cruise you could go with your other half, and even kids. When we are in the class, they can relax, learn Taiwanese, dance, play...

This is our golden chance to show the other half that we do not just shooting the breeze well beyond midnight (what time is it now? 3:20 AM?). This is our chance to make us look better and even get help and not a «better do something useful» yelling... (LOL)

ActiveRain CruiseIt is a perfect combination of deep training and extravagant vacation. With no worries about hotels, and no worries about the food, what can be better?

It will also give a chance to run a 2-3 days RainCamp and get something in-depth. Call it the Fall Academy. Offer a free cruise to presenters, and I am sure they will also enjoy the trip. Add a small amount to the ticket price to arrange it, and it would cover the costs of training. You would not need to rent space, it is all right there.

ActiveRain CruiseI hope you would agree that a cruise would let us better know each other, and make those real person to person (and family to family) bonds, that we, computer-age people, are longing for and cherish so much...

AR would get phenomenal bragging rights to be the first Social Network to do this. Check if you can copyright it or TM it, it may be worth it (LOL). I have a very good vibe about it and I think that it easily could become a tradition and, who knows, maybe we will see two cruises a year and maybe 6-7- night cruises as well.

ActiveRain CruiseWe would be coming back refreshed, energized, with so many new friendships, so many new ideas...and nice tan.

I am sure that for a price of $300 per person or less I am sure we would get enough members willing to get on board. I am also sure that we would have wonderful volunteers that could help organizing it.

ActiveRain CruiseIf you really like this idea, reblog it (AR may not give me the points for the reblogs, this is not about points) so that we can test the waters. Tell me if you think we need to create a group «AR on a cruise» , "Shooting the breeze" or something else, and, please, shoot your ideas.

I am in (with Olga, but she does not know yet). I am #1 on this list.

A cruise would make for an interesting venue for training. Would the IRS let me deduct it all? Probably not!

I don't know why not, Gary, if the courses were educational. I'll bet they could arrange to have some courses taught that would count towards our license renewal or a designation? Honestly, with all the networking we would do, I think it would be deductible. But I'm not an accountant! lol
