RIBBONS Wig Studio Needs Active Rainers Near Doylestown Hospital May 7th, 2011

My friend Tracy Reichert Giannini, my freshman college roommate at the University of Delaware, is opening a wig studio in the new Penn Oncology building at Doylestown Hospital.

According to Tracy's facebook page, she is "partnering with Pat Moore, formerly of Hair Alternatives, to open a wig studio in the new Penn Oncology building at Doylestown Hospital. We have been working together for a couple of years, but this is a new location and a new name. A new beginning for us, and we've already been asked to be at other locations."

Ribbons Studio-Wigs and Accessories is part of the Expanded Cancer Institute and Penn Radiation Oncology.  The Ribbons store (located on the first floor of the addition) features wigs, hair accessories, anti-nausea aids and educational materials.

Tracy and I had a great connection from our first "get to know your assigned room mate" phone call before we started at University of Delaware.  We had so many laughs and good times that year, it brings a smile to my face just thinking about it!   Among other things, Tra introduced me to turkey subs with lots of red hots. It's hard to believe I have college age kids now.  I haven't seen Tracy in many years, but think of her (and her husband who we nicknamed "Richie Poo Poo" when they were dating) often. After freshman year, Tracy decided that she needed to be back home and continued her education for nursing in Pennsylvania. I continued on to graduate from UD-GO BLUE HENS!

If you have some time on Saturday, it would be great if you could stop in to support Tracy in her new venture.  It sounds like there is going to be a big celebration going on at Doylestown Hospital that day.

Many family and friends have been touched by cancer.  I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy.  If I were diagnosed with cancer, I would hope that I would be near a facility with all the amenities that the Cancer Institute will offer.  I would hope that I would have someone with as big a heart as my friend Tracy helping me through it. The service she and Pat will provide will help women feel beautiful and "normal" in the face of nothing that is normal.

Members of the community are invited to an Open House on Saturday, May 7 from 1 to 4 pm.

FROM THE DOYLESOWN HOSPITAL WEBSITE:

The expanded Cancer Institute of Doylestown Hospital is located on the third floor of an addition to the Pavilion, which is adjacent to the hospital. The new space is twice the size of the Institute's former location. Patients may choose a private infusion room or an open setting for their treatments. The new space also includes doctors' offices, an onsite pharmacy and research offices. Additionally, The Cancer Institute incorporates MRI, PET/CT, endoscopy, and the Women's Diagnostic Centers of Doylestown Hospital.

For more information about the Cancer Institute of Doylestown Hospital call 215-345-2261. For information about Penn's Radiation Oncology facility on Doylestown Hospital's campus, visit PennMedicine.org/radiation-oncology, or call 267-880-2710.

All the best Tra!  May you help many women to feel beautiful again!
