16 Comments on Your Palate Will Say THANKS: Taste of Cincinnati May 28 - 30 2011
Hi Bliz....another great localism post giving everyone a heads up on how and where to celebrate Memorial Day weekend in Cincinnati....
Barbara, As long as we don't get a heat wave...yeah right, the way this season has been going, it's a GREAT time. Too much to eat, and sometimes some pretty serious crowds, but it's a great way to kick off the summer season...even if a bit early!
I'm just sooooo excited to be logged into AR.....I forgot what I was going to say!
Actually, This sounds like a great event, wish I lived just a little closer....I LOVE GUMBO! But, "Take it off in the rain" probably wouldn't approve of my eating behavior at such an event! Have lots of fun for all of us that can't make it, and eat a little extra gumbo for me :0)
Bliz, ooh, it sounds so yummy, I can imagine why it draws a big crowd. By the way, I like to eat and I enjoy foood ;)
Amy, We haven't made it in a few years. Liz isn't a big fan of crowds, and this can get crowded! Obviously, LOTS of people enjoy the event :)
Rita, They've hit a home run with the event :) HUGE draw, year after year. Not sure, but I think the restaurant count may be down a bit this year. The economy has whacked some of the past participants.
We have something similar, but it doesn't come close to the size and breadth of yours. Wish CA would give me a weekend off, I'd be there in a heartbeat -- IF you promised we could catch a baseball game!
Tish, That Monday night is the only night the Reds are in town. The rest of the weekend they're in Atlanta!
I love the sound of this...what a good opportunity to sample local cuisine for a small fee and take notes for those restaurants you want to go back to in the future.
Bliz: Sounds like a can't miss event. Love Cincinatti. My daughter auditioned there years ago at UCCCM. What a nice town!
BTW, your post was perfect. Made you want to mark the event on your calendar.
We have these at different times on LI and Rockville Centre but the ones in NYC are the best.
My kind of event, looks like a good time BLiz.
BLiz - The Taste of Cincinnati sounds like a terrific opportunity to have some great food. I have fond memories of restaurants there, although it's been many years. My brother-in-law and hiw wife likely know about this but I sure will mention it to them just in case. They would love it.
Jeff
Liz & Bill, I used to enjoy going to these event in spite of the crowds.... I always enjoyed the opportunity to taste the various Restaurant's samplers and if they were really good it assured them that Diane and I would end up visiting their Restaurant. To me it was a no brain er Good Restaurant Marketing. Hope you can go and take some pictures for us:))
I love a Taste of any city... Chicago is the best one I have ever been to...but this Memorial Day; I will be involved in the zoom zoom of the Indianapolis 500 with any luck.
Liz & Bill - Yum, yum, yum! I agree with Cindy above I have been to taste of Chicago severals times and it's one of the best; deep dish pizza...mmmm.
Anita, It's a prime opportunity to give a place a whirl for a couple of samples. For $10 or less you can decide if you'd like to visit again and spend a lot more for full entrees and the rest of the deal :)
Anne, It's been a great place to live. We've been here for 20 years this month, came here right after I left the Navy. And glad our post is resonating! :)
Liz, Would imagine NYC could throw quite the bash!
Roger, It's quite a fun time as long as it's either not screamin' hot or overly crowded. Picking the right times to visit helps with that.
Jeff, We've always been blessed with some great chef's in Cincinnati. If you want some great cooking, you're not going to have to look too hard.
Endre, It's a terrific opportunity to give someone a trial run!
Cindy, According to the press (who MAY be biased), this is supposed to be the premier event of it's kind :)
Michelle, Problem with sampling deep dish pizza? One slice and you're full!
