You Scream, I Scream, We ALL Scream for Ice Cream!

Man, the third graders at Bower's Elementary School had a fun filled day today at the Mayfield Dairy in Athens, Tennessee.  We were shown a video of how Mayfield Dairy got their start in 1910 and have continued to grow through the years to become the magnificent facility they have today.

Scottie and Rob are 4th generation Mayfields, they oversee the dairy's operations.  Mayfield's has over 2000 employees, serves 9 states and is one of the leading dairys in the nation.  It takes 20,000 cows to produce the the amount of milk needed to supply the stores, schools and hospitals serving Mayfield milk.

The kids had a great time.  They got to tour the facility and then they were served the ice cream flavor of there choice.  Seth rode home with me, so we waited around until the bus left and he and I sampled more of the delicious Mayfield ice cream. It was a gorgeous day for sitting in a rocking chair outside in the shade and eating ice cream!

When I taught, I loved taking the kids on field trips where they had fun and learned something too!  Mayfields would be perfect for third graders.. or all the way up to twelveth graders.. HaHa

Cindy...we had to wear red hair nets and he looked so funny with a hair net on, kind of like a rooster!

Judi...I think that senior citizens would have enjoyed the day too, especially topping it off with ice cream!
