There are many places to celebrate a Mother’s Day meal. I for one don’t care to wait 30-45 minutes in a long restaurant line for a table only to have to shout at one another just so you can hear what someone is saying. Sound familiar?
So, I called Ken’s parents and requested that we try something different for Mother’s Day. How about a picnic lunch at Sycamore Flats in Pisgah National Forest? I confess I was clearly not the only one with this idea. We arrived at the first picnic area of the Forest only to find it full.
As I started to second guess my great idea, Ken’s brother said “follow me”. We turned into an area called Sycamore Flats. We were surprised that no one had discovered this amazing picnic site. It was perfect!
These photos were taken a few years ago and as we called the family to make Mother’s Day plans for this Sunday Mom said “I really enjoyed the picnic we had at Pisgah Forest”.
Weather permitting, we plan on the whole family getting together to celebrate Mother’s Day with fried chicken, pasta salad and many other southern comfort foods. Where ever you choose to celebrate, we wish you and your family a very happy Mother’s Day!
