Outside the Box Marketing: Addison Community Garage Sale.
The semi-annual Addison garage sale was held under the big white tent in the Sam's Club parking lot on Saturday. With perfect weather, eager crowds, and an improving economy, the event was a success!
On Friday morning, the tent was empty:
By Friday afternoon, Addison residents were busy claiming tables and setting up for the Saturday morning throngs. All the tables along the outside perimeter were taken by the time I got there at 6:00 pm, so I settled for a table on the inside aisle. I made 2 trips and set up the booth, then went home for a good night's sleep.
On Saturday morning, armed with flyers of all my listings and a printout of all homes for sale in Addison, I set out for the tent at 6:00 am. Although the event doesn't officially start until 8:00 am, there were many buyers there, along with those who did not set up the night before.
Besides selling the normal kinds of household stuff one typically finds at a garage sale, I was able to talk real estate to anyone looking to buy or sell a home. I distributed the flyers of my listings and collected contact information from potential clients.
Another bonus: I cleared out space in my garage and put some extra $$ in my wallet!
