Playing in the Rain ~ Silverton Hospital Fun Run

I coaxed my family out of bed this morning to venture out into the rain for the 28th Annual Silverton Hospital Fun Run.  This is a fun event that brings community members together to celebrate healthy living and raise funds for the Silverton Hospital Network at the same time.

Lydia Von Weller from Silverton Fitness led the warm up to send us off on our way.  My boys just stood back and watched because they weren't quite sure how to put the "grapevine" steps together.

My daughter Madeline put up with walking the 5k with me but she really wanted to run.  I ran as much as I could with her and she ended up finishing 4th in her age group.  (Way to go girl!)  She would've placed higher if I wasn't holding her back.  We really enjoyed our visit as we crossed Silver Creek, walked through the park, looped around Silver Loop and headed back up the hill to the finish line at the hospital.

My highlight of the morning (aside from time well spent with family and all of the bright shining faces of our Silverton community members) was the blueberry basil slushy drink provided by Chef Eric Nelson from Vitality Bistro.  YUM.  Vitality is sincerely one of my favorite places to dine in the Willamette Valley.  Worth a try if you haven't been there before.

Thank you Silverton Hospital Network for a consistently enjoyable and well run event.  Big thanks to Judy Schmidt, the woman with the beautiful smile, who works hard on this event with her team year after year.

All these wonderful spring activities that are supposed to take place in a nice dry May just aren't happening that way. I'm guessing when we go to Silver Falls here in a couple weeks those will be amazing though.

We never let the rain slow us down.  Once we get out in it it's always enjoyable.  The Falls for SURE  is great every single season.  Breathtaking beauty right here in our backyard.  Thakns for the note Todd ~
