John, I've never heard of Bird Key, Florida before...but based on your description "pristine white sands, crystal blue waters and cool gulf breezes" it sounds heavenly! :)

I could live in Bird Key just because it has a fine name, certainly much better than, say, Truth-or-Consequences, New Mexico! lol

John,  Iam Florida bound soon to see my son who is relocating to Ft. Lauderdale.  Your description of Bird Key Florida is making me think it's the place to be!  Sounds like a paradise!

@Kathleen: I've lived on the southeast coast of FL and I live on the southwest coast -- for me, I hate the megalopolis of the east coast (it's like New York traffic, just with palm trees). Sarasota is truly paradise and the gulf beaches are so much nicer.
