RE BarCamp Charlotte

What a great time we all had at RE BarCamp Charlotte NC last Friday!  So many thanks go out to Lori Bee & my dear friend Debe Maxwell, Todd Long, and all their team.  They did a superb job organizing the event, and in making everyone feel so welcome in their Queen City!

BarCamps if you haven’t had the chance to attend one yet are some of the best ways to learn, share, get inspired, and even get out of your own way....  I loved RainCamp CharlottFriends in ActiveRaine last year and highly recommend attending anyone that come even remotely near or far from your home.  But a BarCamp is a tad different.  The best description I’ve heard is this;  'have you ever attended a conference and learned more by talking with the other attendees, or while out with them at dinner?  Well that’s the premise of a BarCamp.

Mike Jaquish did a great recap already ~ so I won’t try and top that.  BUT I had an experience that was so neat for me.  I got a chance to meet a new AR member, she’s an avid video blogger - which you all know I’ve loved getting VBloggers started, AND she gave me an opportunity to do an interview.  Wow - that’s 3 birds with one stone er three opportunities for a video blog!!

So it’s with pleasure that I introduce a brand new Rainer ~ a new member of VBloggers and a just one great lady...

Please welcome Sandra LoCastro from Exit Realty Ashville NC!

Sandra, I really enjoyed having a chance to talk with you one on one.  You really are a wealth of info... I'm sorry I botched up the pronunciation of your name, my eyes aren't what they used to be!

Welcome to the rain my friend.  Call me if I can help in any way!

Pamela - what a nice write up and testimonial. Sounds like RE Bar Camp was another winner. And you're right, it is SO unlikje Raincamp, and in some ways better...certainly different.

I need to get my Bar Camp fix pretty soon - it's been such a long time.

Hi Pamela,

Thanks for the info, sounds like a great event. I love those barcamps myself.

Also, great job on your video with Sandra, you did a great job interviewing her and it looks like you're having fun with your video editing.

She's so right about seeing ourselves on camera and we just have to get over it, because that's the way other people see us...it's much different from just seeing a photo of ourselves, video makes us real in the eyes of the consumer.

Also, I took a quick online look at the Kodak Play Touch and it mentioned an anti-glare solution that is not present on the Zi8. I love the Zi8 because of the external mic (vs. the flip which I use still use occasionally) but bright sunlight makes it almost impossible to actually see what your shooting.  I tried to shoot a family wedding last week in HI but during the ceremony itself, the bride & groom were headless.  Because of the extreme sunlight I had no idea what I was getting so I just aimed.

I'll be looking into the Play Touch next, thanks again.

Wouldn't I love attending a BarCamp with you Jeff!  I am REALLY looking forward to the day when we get a chance to meet in person!

Thanks Lynda, I do have fun with that l'il flip!  My new goal is to enjoy being in one (video)!  I'll have to look at the Kodak camera.  They sound much more user friendly.

Connie you have no idea how much you were missed.  I've been thinking about you and Jim as you two have had a lot going on.  So glad that your trip to OH was successful.

I had a great time at the ReBar camp in Charlotte and it was my first one.  I was so excited to meet so many talented new people and especially Pamela who helped me look "good".  Thanks for the opportunity to share. I was excited to learn about the group as we can learn so much from each other.

I've really got to get out more.  Be sure to let us know when one of these BarCamps is coming to California.
