Breaking News!

Newt GingrichFox News reports that Newt Gingrich will enter the 2012 GOP presidential nomination. He'll use the powerful social media, Twitter and Facebook to officially announce his candidacy on Wednesday, followed by Hannity's interview in the evening.

I think he has a brilliant mind, and I'm glad that he's finally going to join the fray. I would like for him to address head on the perceived 'baggage,' that Ted Baker addressed, so Gingrich can put it behind him, and concentrate on his candidacy.

I can see the old media cranking their spinning machine already!

He'll be on Hannity, Wednesday, May 11 @9PM ET/8PM CT.

Yolanda: We are happy to see Newt is going to enter the race.  He is truly focused to see this country move forward. He will be excellent in the debate arena; as we say in Texas, he can speak and chew gum at the same time and still get his point across.

Well the campaign will certainly be more interesting with Newt on board.

Newt, in his day, has been a big government sort of guy.  I will be interested to see how he can focus on the debt and spending issues which I perceive to be the most significant problems we will face over the next campaign cycle.

Newt is, in my view, the best strategic thinker we have - and he is a terrific speaker.  He can be an extremely effective candidate if the media will let him.

Film at eleven.

C&C - I believe that Newt will perform very well, chewing, speaking, and getting his point across. :)

Georgia - the media has lost its purpose... journalism. It's no wonder blogging took off--can't get the true picture, otherwise. It will be a great show, Newt v Barack. I wonder if teleprompters will be allowed?

Ted - I think he's capable of engineering another Contract with America. As Georgia mentioned above, the media will try to freeze him. It will put the media on display on how they can truly be bulldogs when they want to dig, but hohum when the candidate is on their side of the ideological spectrum.

I'll be watching my tweets and FB status. Thanks for your comments!

Dear Yolanda,

I live in Georgia.

I have always thought that Newt Gingrich was a __________ man.  I believe that his power comes from his deep knowledge and understanding of history. What is that old saying? "Those who don't know history are condemned to repeat it." Newton Leroy Gingrich (born N.L. McPherson, 1943) knows history and that's a foundation of his strength.

Rob (commenting in Ted Baker's blog #13) always cuts to the chase in his comments. Here's my take on that - Why would any woman (or man) expect fidelity when she (he) was active in a previous infidelity?  Guess they didn't know the power of studying history the way Newt Gingrich knows about that power ...

Politics? High level corporate jobs? Many leaders have done amazing things and not been family types. Their loyalties are not necessarily to their families.  Did Churchill spend time with his wife children or in service to England?  What was said about Eisenhower and his mistress? What was said about Roosevelt and his mistress? Benjamin Franklin? Kennedy? Jefferson? and the list could go on and on.

In the past, some discretion was exercised regarding private lives. Don't expect that now if you enter politics.

Have a happy day -
Lynn

Hi, Lynn! Thank you for your thoughtful comments. You pointed out the less ideal politicians in the past who were either discreet or protected by the media and their sphere. Some from the other side will point out the infidelity perhaps because they couldn't win on the issues.

Gingrich will be more dissected and fileted I'm sure. I still remember the hoopla back then when he made a book deal, but nothing on the other politicos after. We do know that he writes his own books.  LOL

Yolanda: I wanted to stop back by to read all the comments. As far as the media, I believe they have lost the respect of many...me included. Stop with the bashing and let us hear and discuss the issues. When it comes to issues Newt is the man in the know.

Carl ~ I'm thankful that we have the Internet, we don't have to be dependent on the mainstream media for news/opinions any more. We can school ourselves with the issues and then decide. Thanks for dropping by tonight! :)

Hi, Anon! That will be something to see, wouldn't it? Christie has several months to decide--but if he is going to, he should announce very soon. Thanks for your comment.
