A man who is a master of patience is master of everything else. - George Savile
Adopt the pace of nature: her secret is patience. - Ralph Waldo Emerson
I have spent my Sunday reading, a rare occasion to relax for more than a few minutes at the time. Because it was Mother's Day, I didn't feel guilty sitting down for a few hours and indulging in fun reading. I'm almost finished with "Sail" by James Patterson. "Blind Man's Bluff" is next on my reading list. Thank you to my ActiveRain friends for great book recommendations.
Among the books I picked up this Sunday was "100 Ways to Simplify Your Life" by Joyce Meyer. This time, the chapter Progress Is Made One Step at a Time attracted my attention. Joyce Meyer compares our progress in life to a seed. When a seed is planted, it takes a while for a seed to sprout and produce fruit. The farmer must be patient.
We should be like a farmer in our daily life - patient. Being impatient makes us miserable, and does not help in making progress. Instead of being anxious about the final result, we should enjoy the journey taking us to our destination. Enjoy each step of your progress, or you will go through life being frustrated about things you cannot change.
"The fruit of patience is a seed resting in you, and as you wait with a good attitude, it develops and grows. You may not be where you want to be, but you are making progress!"
