An English pub singer was arrested on the Isle of Wight on charges of singing the 1974 popular song Kung Fu Fighting. He was charged with Racially Aggravated Harassment. Simon Ledger, the singer, was performing his regular set at an open air bar when a Chinese couple walked by. The man in the couple took some cell phone videos of Ledger's performance. Later that day, Ledger was arrested and charge. It appears at least one person in the couple took offense.

Kung Fu Fighting is a part of Ledger's regular set and he sings it often. He had already started the song before the "offended" couple walked by. Even if he is cleared of this ridiculous charge, he will still have to go to court, will still have to more than likely hire a barrister and incur other expenses. Or worse, he might actually be found guilty, have to pay a fine, drop the song from the set (ok, no big loss there) and more.

Yet another example of Political Correctness exceeding the boundaries of common sense. Yes, this was in the UK, but, could it happen here? Probably. We already see cases of people arrested for singing anti-police themed songs, or the wrong song in an airport. We already have certain words that cannot be used in school, offensive terms such YACHT. Words such as school girl or school boy can't be used, they have to be replaced with school child. And there are countles other words and phrases that we can no longer use because someone might get offended. The one that really gets me is "actress". Women are now actors. Except of course when it comes to the Acadamy Awards, then they get an award for "Best Actress". Go figure.

Anyway, this is crazy. But, its only going to get crazier until common sense rules again. But then that might not be until, well, never.

Now if they want to get rid of an offensive song, how about that song on the Small World ride?

I'm still trying to find where in the Constitution it states an individual's right to not be offended?

I couldn't agree more sir, I mean person of non-sexual orientation. This political correctness has gone to far! Even a bar fight can be come a crime of race even if that had nothing to do with the fight. Political correctness is just one of the many reasons we home school!
