9 Comments on Just Upgraded to Brokers License
Congratulations on passing the exam Eric, such a great accomplishment.
Eric: Welcome to the Broker's Club.....not that it means much unless you own your company and command alll the commission. Being a Broker might mean higher fees in the future cause you have that title...I know I pay much higher fees than just a regular SalesPerson license.
In Illinois they're phasing out the Real Estate Salesperson license so unforunately none of us have a choice - it's either upgrade or go out of business. In a way I feel they're doing a good thing - most of the general public don't really know the difference between a Real Estate Broker and a Real Estate Salesperson. But the higher fees I definately won't welcome.
Eric, congratulations! I upgraded to a broker's license 3 years ago and I am very happy that I did!
Congrats Eric...I have been licensed since 1978 and a broker/owner since 2009. Love being a sole proprietor as I truly work for myself now. Strange that you won't have any salesperson license in Illinois anymore. What's the reasoning for that?
Re Dennis: they said it was because the perception of the general public was that we are all real estate brokers anyways - that they do not understand the difference between a real estate broker and a salesperson. So to keep the public protected and from being confused they are just requiring everyone to be brokers. They created a seperate designation for brokers managing an office called a "Managing Broker". Also part of the reason was the perception that it was too easy to get into real estate so along with this change there are higher classroom requirements. There's also a much bigger fee, which I don't beleive has any bearing on our nearly bankrupt state's decision to pass this.
Congrats. We are looking for a broker in IL if you are interested! I wish you lots of luck.
Great job Eric. Way to take the next step in your professional development and dedicate yourself to your craft.
Eric,
Congratulations! We wish you continued success in everything you do. A
