Although Summer is over there are still many events to participate in.  Here in the Hudson Valley there are many activities; one such is the Rhinebeck Antiques Fair scheduled for October 13th & 14th at the Dutchess County Fairgrounds in Rhinebeck NY.

It is hard to believe that this Fair has been in operation for 30 years.  This year already  two shows were held, one  in the spring and the other in the summer.  There will be many exhibitors featuring decorative items, furniture, and folk art, to name a few.

Keep in mind that now is the time to see the fall foliage, so, make a weekend of it. Buy antiques, take in the foliage, or maybe take a cruise on the Hudson river and there is always tea tasting in Millerton.

Jennifer, I would love to go to this and it would be a good time for the pretty foliage; will definitely have to check my calander, it's next week!  With this beautiful weather I still think we're in August :)

Hi Jennifer,
Now you are talking about something I can relate to.  I grew up surrounded by antiques, my parents are collectors.  They would be in absolute heaven at this fair.  I should tell them about it, they might like to plan a trip next year to coincide with the fair.  Ok, note to self...tell Mom about antique fair in Hudson Valley.

Oh, another note... I do want to learn to appreciate and enjoy tea.  Can you recommend a green tea to start?

Jennifer, NY has some of THE BEST antique and tag sales, and what's interesting is that a gorgeous, history filled piece of furniture is often less than buying something brand new, without the history.

Jennifer, I LOVE antiques but I guess that would be a little far to get them home (LOL).  I do enjoy looking at the antiques that are back east compared to the antiques out west.  Ours are quite a bit more rustic. I always then wonder about the history of the antique.  We have quite a few family antiques and I treasure them; I have my Great-Grandmothers secretary.

Jennifer, I have some friends in West Virginia that would love to attend that.  They go all over the place on weekends searching for tag sales and auctions.  They would love this.

Carole - I really don't want August weather, I love fall.  I hope you make it up, there is so much to do and see.  If you are, let me know I would love to meet you.

Cynthia - The fair happens 3 times each year, I provide the website so your parents could check for the dates.

Laurie - I agree it is amazing the type of stuff you can pick up at tag and antique sales.  Not to be overlooked are the local auctions.

Renee- Thank you so much. I am glad that my post make you reflect on your childhood.  I have read a few that did the same for me.

Marchel - It is true that here in the east you can find antiques with great history.  I am sure you treasure the secretary.

George - This is short notice but you might want to give them the website so they can check for next year dates.

Paula - This area is big on antiques.  Fall is such a wonderful time so many fun activities to choose from.  Knowing the winter is around the corner outdoor fun is important right now.
