Don't let this picture scare you in regards to your kids going to college. This just happens to be a clasic when it comes to movies, Animal House , in 1978. But Philadelphia has some of the best Colleges and Universities in the Northeast Region. The University of Pennsylvania, once known as The Academy of Pennsylvania, was founded in 1749. Making it the oldest school in the Philadelphia area. There is some disagreement about Penn's date of founding because of a certain log found at Princeton University. But because of the uncertainties surrounding this, there is some connection between this school and the College of New Jersey that would enable Princeton to claim a founding date of 1726. But Princeton does not officially do so and a Princeton historian says that the "facts do not warrant" such a claim.
