I found this calculator online that you can use to cut the federal budget. I not only cut things I thought were a total waste, I took a hit too on items that affected me directly. It wasn't that painful and I picked choices I thought I could live with.

I would start with the programs that make people actually go to work instead getting paid to do nothing. and yea some of that foreign aid for staters
Ow! Ow! Ow! Whadayamean we have to reduce the benefits we social security recipients get! Tax someone else, leave me alone.
Of course, you can't reduce defense expenditures or student benefits, or . . . . whatever. And taxes are already too high and you want to add a sales tax?
Doing this exercise makes it obvious why we have a problem. Whenever I hear someone complaining about the deficit I ask her what expenditures she wants to cut -- and it suddenly gets real quiet.
1. Cut Energy Dept.2/3rds. 2. Cut Education Dept. 2/3rds. 3. Charge all U.S. businesses that order imports from other countries a 5% cost of their imported purchase price for security inspection fee instead of tax payers paying for cost of inspections ( this is not a tariff or tax ). 4. Sell 1/3rd of Government land in western U.S. 5. Cut Commerse Dept. 2/3rds. 6. Reduce all non-essential Gov. employees to only a four day work day-week and cut out the pay for the fifth day. 7. Cut out giving money to leaders of other countries. The money, most of the time, does not get to their people, it just helps the leaders become billionaires. There is an old saying "You can't buy friendship, it has to be earned." 8. Cut all Gov. employees, except military, salaries 5%. 9. Reduce foreign stationed U.S. military by 1/3rd, except in war zones, and bring back to spend money in U.S. 10. Pass the natural gas bill, this should create about 3 million jobs right away. 11. Encourage more on shore drilling for oil and ease up on environmental regulations. The more oil drilled in the U.S., the more taxes will be paid,because of the increase inproduction, and about 3 million more jobs. 12. Cut out the Federal Reserve Banking System and go to gold backed money. 13. Cut the budget 5% across the board.
I WOULD CUT THE GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS SALARY AND HAVE THEM LIVE ON OUR WAGES OF 30,000TO 32,000 PER YR. I WOULD NOT RAISE GAS TAXES NOR TOUCH THE MEDICARE OR ANY OTHER PLAN CREATE MORE JOBS FOR THE UNEMPLOYED. I THINK THE OFFICIALS NEED TO HAVE A TASTE OF THE AVERAGE AMERICAN CITIZEN LIVES.

IT IS SO SIMPLE TO STOP ALL THE PIG MONEY FOR WASTED PROJECTS WHEN NECESSARY MONEY IS NEEDED FOR BASICS E.G. DEFENSE, ROAD CONSTRUCTION AND IF THE ROAD DOES NOT LAST A PROPER AMOUNT OF TIME MAKE IT THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE CONSTRUCTION COMPANY FOR POOR WORKMANSHIP. ESTAB;LISH ENGLISH AS THE FORMAL LANGUAGE SO EVERYTHING DOESN'T HAVE TO BE PRINTED IN MULTIPLE LANGUAGES TO CUT COSTS. PEOPLE ARE COMING HERE LIKE OUR FOREFATHERS WHO WERE WILLING TO LEARN ENGLISH AND BECOME ASSIMULATED NOT STAYING IN THEIR OWN CULTURE.
I would slash the salaries of all government workers ( city, state and federal)and cease all benefits including insurance and retirement. As America goes through the process of trying to repair all the damage that's been done to our country at least those responsible for our problems would have to go through what the people who pay their salaries do.
The first thing that should be done is freeze all government pay increases. Then we should slowly reduce there pay, just llike all Americans have experienced over the past years. The next item that we should monitor and remove is overtime spending.The 4Th item to be addressed is all insurance spending and control. The banks and insurance company's have a Free rein to do as they please. this is what makes health care so uncontrollable. All government employee's should have full disclosure of there income spending assets and debt's. We should have a program that requires all government and state aid individuals to do some sort of work for there pay. Whether it would be cleaning our roadways and river systems or providing childcare for someone who could not afford it. The biggest problem is that our society allows company's and shareholders to pay our CEO enormous salary's at the cost of the worker's. CEO salary's have increased steadily, while employee's wage,s and and jobs have declined. Where is the American freedom in this.The top 10% greedy America's dictate what the other 90% are to live!!!!!!
I believe we should start program to reduce CEO salary's. The 1ST thing is that any company's CEO that makes more than 2 million a year should not receive any subsides. @and of all any company's that has profits above 100 million a year should not receive subsides and should pay a higher tax for that year. This should increase a significant amount of jobs.
How much does the combined salaries, medical, retirement & vacations of all the Senate, House & Congress cost?
Instead of cutting S.S.I. & Medicare (which we who are drawing it have paid for for many years ) why not cut these costs instead? And definately, a freeze on all government pay increases.
Since our govt. has allowed all our big businesses & manufacturers to move overseas & take our jobs with them, at least make them pay a large income tax on all the millions in profits they make each year. And STOP allowing them to pay nothing over here. Better still, give them tax breaks to move their businesses back over here.
Eliminate ALL pork from every budget.
Re-examine all Welfare recipients, eliminate 3 and 4 generation recipients, eliminate anyone who cannot pass a drug test every month, stop paying a woman more for every child she has, pay for two, the rest is up to her to support. Also, crack down on the dead beat dads who do nothing to support these kids.
start running your checkbook like i have to. stop spending money you don't have,and quit printing money when you don,t have it.back peddling might not be a bad idea. stop being a globel police force and stop being a out of control military machine. start closing u.s. military bases around the world and bring our people back home to protect our own boarders. line them up around our boarders and shores and protect what little there is left with our own bussiness. i know you see the big picture like many of us do but it is a good idea to start looking through binoculers again and looking at all the little pictures once again. STOP THE GREED.
I would have a fund created "Fund to Reduce the Deficit". Anyone wishing to make donations would send them to this fund. The fund would be administered by the Treasury Dept. The balance of the account should be released to the media every day. There should be no charges or payments made from this fund, and the balance should go UP and UP and UP.
We should not only rely on donations to build up this fund, we should seek means of having contributions made to the fund hurting the taxpayers as little as possible. Some suggestions:
Campaign Funds should be assessed a rate of 50%. This will not hurt the taxpayer at all.
A Tax should be placed on all legally assessed fines, This will not hurt the taxpayer, only the wrongdoers
Import Taxes should be assessed an additional 5 to 10%. This would not directly hurt the taxpayer, except in the way of some price increases for those purchasing foreign goods. Maybe it would make American produced products more competitive, and maybe some of the industry that left would return and maybe it would create some jobs in the US.
A 5 of 10% tax should be assessed to all taxpayers with Adjusted Gross Income of over $500,000. They can afford it.
A very low (1% or a fraction thereof) national Retail Sales Tax should be considered.
All of these funds should be paid as collected. The funds need not remain idle. They should immediately be used to pay off foreign debt, and the government would immediately enjoy the benefit of reduced interest costs.
As mentioned earlier, this balance should be reported to the media daily and published in newspapers throughout the country. We should constantly think of other means to have funds contributed to this account, and also of some beneficial uses,such as paying off other debts.
I would cut the salary of all the government members...give them a regular paycheck and let them pay their own bills.Once retired stays retired.No extra pay or treat.They need to get that back what we have now...a mess in our financial situation.
Let them live like all the american people day by day and have them a taste of their own medicine!!!
