Fast Boats. Fast Planes. Sunny day. Thank God I didn't work yesterday. It was Fleet Week in San Francisco and the world renowned Blue Angels were in town. I was fortunate enough to set sail from the Sausalito Harbor on the best day of the year.
Can I just say that I LOVE where I live? 10 minutes and I was stepping on to the docks in Sausalito, sail boats everywhere. We stopped to view the seals (not too long- they are cute but really stinky!) and then we were off in open water heading to the middle of the San Francisco Bay.
The Blue Angels lead plane signaled the start of the show. Minutes later, we spotted six sleek planes racing towards the bay. Flying low and fast, they flew past us- leaving us in trail of smoke and a loud roar from the planes. Heads flipped this way and that to catch their next movement.
The planes roared through the towers of the Golden Gate Bridge, and again through the San Francisco Bay Bridge. Back and forth- upside down, behind the Transamerica pyramid, circling through the mountains and hills of Marin County- over Tiburon and Belvedere, and back again, buzzing Alcatraz, Angel Island and the sail boats lining the bay. Children and adults alike had their mouths open in awe at the sight of the AMAZING Blue Angels.
Words really cannot describe the exhilaration of watching the Blue Angels. Amazing skill, incredible courage and a truly breath taking performance- that is the Blue Angels.
The setting was perfect, the entertainment was superb. It was a perfect day on the bay!
