PA Representative Greg Vitali will present his legislation that would enact a Marcellus Shale drilling tax, House Bill 33, will be discussed at a PennFuture breakfast meeting that will be held 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Monday, May 16 at the Media Borough Hall, Community Center Room, 301 N. Pennsylvania is the only major natural gas producing state that does not have a drilling tax or fee. The money generated could be used to fund environmental programs, help fill some of the cuts proposed by Gov. Tom Corbett and help local communities with impacts from the industry.

PennFuture is promoting the legislation during a series of meetings across the state called the Fair Share Tour.

State Sens. Dominic Pileggi and Ted Erickson will attend, along with PennFuture President Jan Jarrett, Renew Growing Greener Coalition Executive Director Andrew Heath, Pennsylvania Budget and Policy Center Executive Director Sharon Ward, Natural Lands Trust Vice President Oliver Bass and Pennsylvania League of Women Voters President Olivia Thorne will attend.
