If you want to be heard, make your voice count and vote on November 6, 2007 in Fannin County. The deadline to register to vote is almost here - October 9, 2007. The hot question on the ballot in November will be for a "yes" or "no" liquor vote set for the November 6, 2007 election.
"Shall the governing authority of Fannin County be authorized to issue licenses to sell distilled spirits for beverage purposes by the drink, such sales to be for consumption only on the premises?"
In order for this to pass or not pass, more than one half of the votes have to either be for or against. Voter IDs will be required. Voters without a photo ID can vote by absentee ballot by mail.
One of the following six forms of ID is required:
- Georgia Driver's License
- Valid state or federal government issued ID
- Valid U.S. passport
- Valid employee ID from any branch, department, agency or entity of the U.S. Government, Georgia or any county, municipality, board, authority, or other entity of the state
- Valid U.S. military photo ID
- Valid tribal photo ID
Any voter who does not have one of these forms of ID above can obtain a free voter ID at the Fannin office Georgia Department of Driver's Services located at 159 Industrial Blvd. The voter will have to present their social security card or a document with their name and physical address and sign a statement swearing they are the person they say they are.
Precincts change for Hothouse, Morganton
Voters in the Hothouse precinct will vote at the new Fire Station 14 at 1176 Salem Road, Mineral Bluff. Fire Station 14 is less than one mile from the old precinct and is on the same side of Salem Road.
Voters in the Morganton precinct will vote at the Morganton City Hall (not at East Fannin Elementary School). Morganton City Hall is located on 44 Lake Road, less than one mile from the school.
