Do you feel the momentum?

A lot of people I've been talking to lately in the Seattle/Bellevue metro area of Washington have mixed feelings about the marketplace. We're still seeing price declines in many areas and several lenders we've talked to have stated that we've been placed on the "declining market" list for financial institutions. However, me and my team are noting that our business has really been picking up.

At the very beginning of the year (2011) we noticed that the energy was changing.  Then we started noting that client activity and interest was picking up.  Now we're seeing more offers actually emerging and more buyers coming our way, along with new listing interest.  I'm curious if it's really the market, or if it's because we all sat down together and had a discussion about how we're presenting ourselves to the public. Mind can overcome matter and we had begun noticing in 2010 - when the market was really bleak for pretty much everyone in the industry - that we had become a little negative.  As a team, we decided to start changing our voice and actions toward work and I think it's really helped us turn a corner.

What about you?  Do you pay attention to how you talk about your work with others, even in your social time?  I've noticed a difference in how I'm presenting myself to others and, in turn, I see the benefits coming back my way.  Self-reflection can be a good thing...

Here's to all of you and having a great rest of 2011!

Rebecca: Good, thoughtful post. I think people are gradually feeling more confident in the market. It's not great momentum but I feel like we're moving forward rather than being stuck in either neutral or going in reverse. Thanks!
