Colorado Avalanche

I think Coloradoans are one of the biggest bunch of sports fans out there.  It doesn't matter which sport it is we cheer them on.  In pro sports there is our hockey team, the Colorado Avalanche, the Denver NuggetsDenver Nuggets in basketball, the Denver Broncos for football, the Colorado Rockies in baseball and our newest team, the Rapids, our professional soccer team.  We definitely have the college football teams covered as well.  Perhaps we don't have quite as big of a showing for other college sports or minor league play. We pretty much root for all of our teams year ‘round, but especially when we are having a good season.

Colorado RockiesColorado RockiesSpeaking of good seasons, our Colorado Rockies are having their best season in history!  After a great finish to the regular season landing them in a tie for the wild card spot they clinched the wild card spot in an exciting win over San Diego.  The first round of the play offs turned into a sweep.  The Phillies are out of it and the Rockies are facing the Diamondbacks in the next round.  Denver Broncos

Typically baseball is too slow paced for me.  Not enough action.  I prefer hockey or football.  Even basketball is better.  But with the excitement of the Rockies play and the enthusiasm of all the fans I have been sucked into the playoff buzz.  It is no longer October in Colorado, it's Rocktober!

Hopefully we can get through the rest of the games without snow delays!  :)

True the Rockies are having an outstanding year, but the Broncos need some help. Why else would I be online and only 1/2 paying attention.  I should be out taking pictures of the colors instead.

I would rather have snow!  A sports fan I am not, unless it is skiing, but I know there are lots of Coloradoans out there happy to have a winning team.  It has been a while for any of them!  So I will settle for snow during a nationally televised Rockies or Broncos game and then the phone will ring for people wanting to book my condo at Copper.

Dena - No matter what teams are playing when it's a blow out (41 to 3) it's hard to pay attention to the game.  At least the Broncos entire division is struggling right along with them.  They are still tied for second place.

Joanne - I too am getting excited for ski season!  Nationally televised snow in the Rockies is good for Summit County.  Unfortunately they won't play baseball in the weather.  I guess those guys aren't as tough as football players who play in all sorts of weather.

The term fair weather fan comes to mind. If your a fan it's not just when their about to go to the World Series. It's when they just lost six straight and your still rooting for them, that's a fan. Baseball rarely excites me. Go Pack!!!

Jason - I will admit I am somewhat of a fair weather fan.  I pay more attention when the teams are doing well.  I typically don't do any bashing when they're not.  I am still a fan, just not a raging fan.

I guess it's easy to say when your not a huge baseball fan, if someone has to win it might as well be your home team. In that case Go Rockies!
