If you live in Long Grove, Illinois you are probably either a Cubs Fan or a Sox fan. I live in Long Grove and personally am a Cubs fan, along with two of my boys. My husband and my third boy ,on the other hand are Cincinnati Reds Fans. Why did they choose the Reds is a story by itself!
Unfortunately if you are a Cubs fan, sometime in the course of a season the Cubs are going to blow it. That is why my father, Sheldon Cooper, a die hard cub fan from the turn of the century wrote the following poem last night.
The Great Cub Team
An Oxymoron

Being a cub fan is not very smart,
It can give you an ulcer and injure your heart,
It can give you depression, ruin your life,
You get mad at the neighbors and yell at your wife,
From the Wrigley Building to the Tribune Tower
Some teams had pitching, some had power,
The owners had money, but thought it a sin,
To spend enough for their team to win.
But you go to the ballpark all set to cheer
40 thousand fans, each with a beer,
Three drinks later, it's the seventh inning,
You don't even know, which team is winning.
Billy goats curse, the fan catching the ball,
An umpire making a terrible call
A throwing error or a pitchers balk,
We can also lose with a bases filled walk.
We haven't won it all since nineteen 0 eight,
That's too many years for a guy to wait,
But every season what words do we hear,
The faithful yelling "wait till next year"
