If you live within a 2 hour drive of Lyndeborough, New Hampshire, put Paradise Farm on your "must visit" list and make certain you bring your grocery basket, your camera and the kiddos. The whole family will be in for a treat! Owners Wayne Colsia and his wife, Adrienne, have created one of the most picturesque family farms you will ever visit, and the beauty of the landscape is only surpassed by the warm hospitality that Wayne, Adrienne and Australian Shepard Riley, extend to every Paradise Farms visitor.
InSide NH dedicates this week's Buy-Local Blog post to Paradise Farm, 468 Center Road, Lyndeborough, New Hampshire 03082 - 603.345.0860.
I had the pleasure of meeting Wayne at a Farmer's Market in Amherst, NH a few weeks ago. My daughters, Julia & Hannah, asked to stop by a local outdoor Market that was setup near home. May marks the beginning of the outdoor "Farmer's Market" Spring and Summer season here in New Hampshire and we were excited to get out and meet our neighbors and checkout the local vendors.
Paradise Farm had a booth setup at the Market and we were immediately attracted by the buzz of customers and the display of colorful jars of jams, jellies and relishes.
Grass-Fed Beef: I overheard Wayne talking with customers about Paradise Farm's grass-feed beef products. Paradise raises Scottish Highland Cows - these magnificent cows are not just fantastic beef cattle, but are also "lower maintenance" cattle known for being a hardy breed accustomed to cold, windy climates. They are also just beautiful (I think).
Hannah's 8th grade class at Amherst Middle School had just watched Food, Inc., so Hannah was anxious to hear about Wayne's sustainable farming approach at Paradise and we were all intrigued by the huge "menu" of products the farm offers its customers.
Wayne was happy to answer our city-family questions about life on the farm, and he invited us out to visit Paradise Farms.... just 20 minutes from Amherst in Lyndeborough, NH. Seeing the cows was enough to make Julia want to drive out right away.
WOW! Our visit was spectacular. Wayne gave us a personal tour of the farm with its spectacular long range views, apple orchard, private pond, hiking trails and green pastures. We met the cows, visited and petted the goats (mama with her new baby, Puzzle) and drank in the beauty of this slice of Heaven.
