Providence Hospitals acquires heart practiceProvidence Hospitals acquired Thoracic and Cardiovascular Associates of South Carolina, a Columbia heart surgery practice. Four physicians will join Providence including Drs. William Baker Allen, E. McIver Leppard, John Sutton III and Robert Zurcher. SCE&G closes book on decade-old clean-upSCE&G will pay the federal government $3.8 million to reimburse federal agencies for their costs associated with the environmental clean-up of a former manufactured gas factory operated on the Charleston waterfront from the early 1900s through the 1950s, said company spokesman Robert Yanity.

First Citizens named Michael Delaney as senior vice president and commercial area executive for the bank’s Orangeburg market. He is now responsible for overseeing day-to-day commercial operations and will be based at First Citizens’ Columbia Road office. Hilton Columbia named AAA approved four-diamondThe Hilton Columbia Center is the only hotel in Columbia to carry the rating, and one of only about 25 hotels in South Carolina. Four Diamond lodging is considered upscale in all areas and offers extensive amenities and a high degree of hospitality. DSS check cashers paying money backEight defendants will be entering the federal Pretrial Diversion Program. As a part of this program, the defendants have agreed to pay the money they received for cashing the checks back to DSS. They are also required to perform 100 hours of community service. |
