A school teacher was taking her first golfing lesson.
"Is the word spelled p-u-t or p-u-t-t" she asked the instructor.
"P-u-t-t is correct."
"Put means to place something where you want it. Putt means just a vain attempt to do the same thing."
Back in 1994 I played the Torrey Pines course here, where the 2008 U.S. Open was held. Par was 72. My two friends shot something like 98 and 103. I shot 154. They made fun of me until I pointed out to them that for the $30 greens fee, they shot one round and I shot two!
