Food As Art.  I took these pictures at the local grocery store last night.

cake

This Graduation cake was the first to catch my eye.   After that I really started looking for the pieces of art in the food.

mousse cups

My husband loves these little edible chocolate cups filled with mousse.  Sometimes at stores you will have a choice of dark chocolate or milk chocolate cups.

cheesecake with fruit

Another favorite at my house is the cheesecake covered with fruit.  My brother usually brings one to my house when he stays with me when he visits from Hawaii.

mousse for two

This cute little dessert is called a mousse cake for two.  It looks yummy.

cheese with nuts and fruit

This looks like a cake, but is actually cheese covered with fruit and nuts.  Someone took some time to beautifully arrange all the nuts and fruit.

cheese

This was in the cheese department as well, but the cheese covered with toppings looks like an english muffin dressed up to be mini pizzas.

cheese

These reminded me of cakes with starfish or spiders on top.

I guess I just have art on my mind.   I am actually going to the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston later today, but wanted to share these works of art with you.

The last one got my attention...Greek Spinach Feta Torte. Now I could do some real waistline damage with that one. I have to get some breakfast now. But somehow my apple and banana just don't seem quite so appealing.

O Liz I haven't gone to the museum in at least 30 years! It is sad I live so close and just never go! I am going to make it a point to go again. I may even take my mom who has never gone at all!

I use to go to a coffee house in the Montrose area called Cafe Artist all the local artist had their art work displayed there and for sale. It was such a cool place to go hang out at...grap a sandwich or a cup of coffee.

Now the new owners will not let artist hang their work there but it is even a better place to eat at. I hope you go by there sometime and give it a try.

Now I'm craving a piece of cake especially the cheesecake covered with fruit.  I'm :p~~ (drooling)  Have you ever had a slice of cheesecake from Junior's in NY?  It is to die for.
