Due Dilligence on Zillow - Part 2.
I took on Brad Andersohn's challenge in Part 1, and now will report on the email I received last week from Zillow, letting me know that I should sign up for Zillow Premier Agent because my zip code is now available for as low as $12/month.
I called Zillow and, lo and behold, found the classic bait and switch. Sure, you can have the zip code for $12 a month, but only on Yahoo Real Estate. If you want Zillow, well, that's more than triple the cost. But ... they'd throw in the Yahoo membership for free.
Oh, there's more! For that $12 a month on Yahoo Real Estate, you get only one-quarter (25%) visibility. They'll sell 4 slots for each zip code. Sure, you can purchase one, two, three or all four. And this is not a month-to-month committment. This is a 6-month run.
What have I learned from all this? I still don't like Zillow. And now I like Zillow even less.
