Skateboard Parks On Long Island
Researching skateboard parks on Long Island brought back memories! As a kid, we all used to build our own ramps. Big ramps too! Scary stuff now that I'm looking back. No wonder why my Mom aged quickly, lol. Sorry about that Mom.
There aren't many skateboard parks on Long Island but the locations seem to make it convenient for all:
Baldwin Skate Park
This park is publicly owned and opened in 2002. ID and protective wear is a must. Their website also says to provide proof of residency.
Greenport Skate Park
Free public outdoor skate park. Located on Moores Lane in Greenport.
Huntington Skate Park
Publicly owned park. Residents and non-residents. Non-residents pay more: $5 per session. Residents pay $40 per season. Non-residents pay $80 per season and $10 per session. Call for more information: 631-351-3089
Inline1 Sports Center
This is an outdoor park and open 7 days a week weather permitting. It is also open after dark.
Oil City Skatepark
Looks like this is the only indoor skate park on Long Island.
Gotta put my Mom pants on. Please wear protective helmets, wrist, elbow and knee guards at all times!
Good morning, Jackie.....I can remember when my son, Michael, was in his very early teens, he was a skateboarder and would do jumps from "everywhere" and back then, no one wore a helmet.....OMG....the things that could have resulted!! that child, single handedly, made me age.
Good Morning Barbara, then I would have made you age since we all did the same thing, lol. We would do ramps over cars on the street. No helmet either. Sorry "MOM". :)
Jackie,
Sounds like there are a lot of nice parks there for kids.
Have a great weekend!
Hi Michele, there is which is a good thing! You have a great weekend too!
Jackie, That's quite a few skate parks! Probably not quite that many in our locality.
Hi Jackie,
No helmet? It a wonder we ever made it through our youth. Have a great weekend!
Hi Bliz, I was surprised at how many we do have!
Hi John, LOL! I was thinking the same thing as I wrote this post. You have a great weekend too!
Hi Jackie - Considering all the things we did when we were kids, we're lucky we survived intact! This is a great post for all the skateboarding kids in your area!
Hi Judy, lucky is right! Between large crib slots, metal high chairs and walkers, no seat belts, etc. It's amazing we did survive, lol.
Jackie, we only have one skateboard park here in Madison that I'm aware of. When I was 14 I built my own skate board in wood shop, it was pretty cool, but back then the wheels were metal...can you imagine that??? Anyway, we would skate down some of the steep hills (streets) in Kansas City Mo. and that was scary enough, but a couple of years later skateboard parks began to spring up and I could never imagine as a kid doing some of the things they do now. I just happened to watch a few minutes last night about skateboard championships that were in progress...who would have thunk it.
What a great idea to share with your clients. Do you skateboard, too, or do you leave that to your son?
Hi Nick, Skateboarding has come a long way. But back in our day, we had fun! I had metal roller skates when I was little. Then the poly wheels came out. Much betterer! :)
Hi Leslie, No skateboarding. I went to street roller skating when I was 14 and kept it up until I got pregnant with my son at 29. I skated every day. Not sure how I would fare with it now at 46, lol.
