How Stupid Can a Person Be???

Reblogger Donne Knudsen

As a devoted and dedicated dog mama, I find it atrocious that people would treat their beloved fur babies in this way.  Every summer, I hear stories of how people have left their pets in a hot car and now it's people exercising their dogs to death.  This is just atrocious and it absolutely breaks my heart.

Anyway, I wanted to pass on Pat's message of being careful about exercising our pets.  I try and walk my own three fur babies everyday but when it's warm, I walk them early in the morning before it gets too hot or in the early evening after it's cooled down.  On the triple digit days, I may not walk them at all.

Let's all pass this message along.  It's a really important one and one that is absolutely vital to the lives of our beloved fur babies.

How Stupid Can a Person Be???

Your dog does not want a sun tan!  Your dog does not enjoy running on hot pavement when it is 75, 85 or 95 degrees outside.  Your dog does not sweat and has no way to cool down its body temperature. Golden Retriever

Instead of helping your dog stay in shape, you are literally risking your dog’s life.  There should be laws against this.  Police should patrol and ticket anyone abusing an animal in this cruel manner.

It got up to 92 today in central Indiana and the idiots were out in full force.  Their loyal, faithful, do-anything-to-please-my-owner, good dogs were doing their best to keep up but falling behind.  I saw so many breeds being abused and tortured…beagles, labs, and the worst was a long coated Sheltie.  Try jogging in your winter coat the next day it is 92 outside.  Try it barefoot on the hot pavement.  Tell me how much you enjoy it and how healthy you feel afterwards.

I am thinking about having my car painted with something like, ‘Love your dog?  Let him stay home when it is hot.  JOG BY YOURSELF!!’

I have a friend who lost a beautiful golden retriever in this exact manner.  This is not the first time I have blogged about this and it won’t be the last.

My dog doesn't get walked.  He weighs 5 pounds and does not do the whole leash thing.  Really don't feel that he should have to wear a leash but that's a whole different blog.  Good blog.  Keep your doggies safe.

When I lived in Phoenix, Arizona I would see people walking dogs in July.   If the Air Temperature is 115 degrees, how hot is the sidewalk?

People like that don't need pets, and those pets don't need those people.

(You may be pleased to know that my Cats are resting comfortably on the front porch; it is fairly cool in Florida tonight).

Donne--Thanks so much for the reblog!!!!  Let's get this word out there!  If I could pick just one of my posts to get featured, this would have been the one.  Thanks for helping to get the word out!

Perhaps if they were smart they wouldn't be jogging in that weather either. But the dogs are innocent sufferers.

Yes, this is simply awful and incredibly selfish.  I remember in the summer months's our dog's favorte place to hang out was the cool tile floor.

Thanks for reminding folks (they shouldn't have to be, but many do) HOW to TREAT their POOCHES. :-)

No doubt Donne! This is a terrific reblog!  Here in Texas the heat gets unbearable and exercising a dog in it is just foolish.  Most dog owners I know keep their dogs inside and crated when it gets hot.  They are let out very early in the morning and later at night to get their exercise, but during the day, they are inside in the AC!

People can be very stupid. It's stupid just to ask how stupid people can be because people are incredibly stupid, and as long as you never expect them to be anything else but stupid you won't be disappointed. Same goes for those who let their cats run wild. Oh, but they want to be outside. Well, do you want them alive or dead? Stupid, I tell ya.

Tni - I'm sure you take very good care of your little one, walking or otherwise.  :)

Fred - I know what you mean; there are just some people who don't deserve to have pets - really!!!  As much as my doggies love hanging outside and watching yard tv, during the summer, they are often inside and lazing about in AC rooms on cool tile.

Pat - MY PLEASURE!!!  It's such a vital message especially now with the summer coming up.  It's sad that some people need to be reminded that their pets are not human and they need special care.

Thx for stopping by folks; I really appreciate it.  Have a good day everyone.  :)

Maya - It's so true to that many people shouldn't be exercising in the heat either but especially not dogs.

Debbie - Same goes for my three fur babies.  As much as they love hanging out in the yard, when it's hot they're inside lazing about on cool tile floors.

Kat - It's true we shouldn't have to remind pet owners; you would think they would know better.  Unfortunately, you just can't fix stupid.

Brenda - Yes, I would think that most dog owners know better but unfortunately, some are just plain stupid and those are the ones that need to be reminded.

Elizabeth - AMEN!!!  Just when we think people couldn't be more stupid, some stupid idiot comes along to shatter that illusion.  Around here, I rarely see any cats hanging outside.  Around here is coyote country and hopefully cat owners here know that and keep their kitties inside.

Thx for stopping by ladies; I really appreciate it.  Have a good day ladies.  :)

Donne, my rottweiler doesn't like to go outside during any season.  For him, a nice walk is about 50 yards and he's good.  I can't even imagine taking him for a jog.  Good stuff.  I've often thought the same thing.  Keep posting!!

Tni, isn't that what the purse is for for that size?

I just saw this yesterday and it upset me. A man was riding his bike and he had the dog leash tied to the handlebars. The dog had to run fairly rapidly to keep up and he looked hot. Before I could even make the decision as to whether to shout something or not, he passed me and the opportunity was gone. Afterwards, I was angry at myself for not speaking up although I doubt it would have made a difference. He passed plenty of other people who clearly were not bothered in the least.

Mike - First and foremost, I DON'T JOG - PERIOD!!!  So my fur babies don't have to worry about me exercising them to death.

Ken - Yes, as a dog owner too, you also understand how important this message is.  Let Pat know you will pass on the message.  As for Tni's little purse doggie, I'm so jealous!  :)

Jill - I know how you felt because I have felt the same way when a see a poor dog being dragged along like that.  It breaks my heart more than anything else.

Thx for stopping by folks; I really appreciate it.  Have a good night and a wonderful week too.  :)
