Laura S. Baker is such a magician when it comes to Home Staging Transformations. Just look at what she had done here to add character to this home

So,... where did the character go?

It saddens me to no end the amount of architectural detail is removed from home after home by novice homeowners doing remodels to their own house.  Nothing really wrong with what they are doing as long as everything ends up to code and they are happy with the results.  If it's what they want to live with and they are happy, it's all good.

That is until it is time to sell.

This house had a lot of charm stripped away by the previous owners.  Fortunately, some was salvaged.  You can see the woodwork (as damaged as it was) had character under the many coats of paint and dried on paint stripper.  The slats between the staircase did as well.  This house had a lot of beautiful craftsman style detail to it at one time.  You could see the silhouettes of it's remains left behind.  In order to add a little more character (aka/value) back this is how we at Ready? Set,...Sell! were able to do so;

A few 1" x 4"s ripped in half set vertically.  A 1" x 6" as a top board and a  1" x 4" set about  1/4 of the way down the wall.  Sure, we at Ready? Set,...Sell! did get  a little fancy and put the tiny trim molding between the 1" x 6" and the vertical boards, because the windows all had that same piece and we wanted to continue that design throughout, but you don't have to get that fancy.  We at Ready? Set,...Sell! also  put a shelf on the top  (just for fun and  a place to put  a little bling)! Then,... we at Ready? Set,...Sell! just painted the wall and the trim pieces gloss white to match all the other woodwork except the  show stopper by the stairs.  Here is what the finished product looked like.

See the beautiful details on the far wall next to the door?  That is the finished product!

Simple to make, added a lot of charm!

Architectural details are the jewelry of the home.  They set the home apart from all the other cookie cutter houses around. If you are not sure what, where or how to add a little jewelry to your home call Ready? Set,...Sell!  Home Staging & ReDesign.  We not only stage homes to sell, but enhance and redesign homes so they work for you and your family, so you never want to leave.
