Here's one of my favorite pieces of Photography related software: Breeze Browse Pro ... for two reasons:
Number 1. Batch Processing - when you need to convert or resize a bunch of images all at once, and
Number 2. This is the biggie, I like the drop shadow web image gallery -- you can upload to your web host as-is, or you can copy and paste the javascript that it generates into a web page of your own making. That's what I do for our photo galleries like this.... http://www.bob-taylor.biz/1200-oak-grove/

Cheryl,
This program looks very good. I just bought the new version of Photoshop Elements. they have changed it so much I can't find my favorite "drop shadow" frame any more. I may have to get this program.
Cheryl, thanks I think I am going to order Breeze Pro. One thing that happened to me: I wound up downloading Adobe 7.0 NOT for editing of my own digital photos. But now when I transfer images to my computer Adobe takes over for my Olympus Master program. And in Adobe, you can't edit unless you buy another (or download it) feature.
I am hoping I can add Breeze without worrying that Adobe will try to circumvent that too? It's really annoying, and I have been tempted to just delete the 7.0 program completely.
I will wait to hear what you have to say before I order the Breeze. See this group is awesome already! : - )
On this 'puter, Adobe Photoshop 7, Picasa, ThumbsPlus and Breeze co-exist peacefully. One thing: I normally upload photos with a card reader:
Take memory card out of camera, stick in card reader, then you can even just use Windows File Explorer to copy the photos to the 'puter.
And most readers have slots for several different types of memory cards - compact flash, smart digital, memory stick, etc. And then you can use older cards to copy plain word processing spreadsheets or other files from one computer to another.
@ Kristal. Try the "Window" menu and make sure that "Styles and effects" is checked. If your styles and effects are open in the palette bin, you want to choose "layer styles" from the first drop down menu and then "drop shadows" from the second one.
I was talking about PSE5, but it sounds like they may have made a change on that. I actually have version 4. I'll find out how to locate the drop shadows and let you know. Sorry about that. I expected that the major components would still be located in the same spots.
I just got this 2 days ago and it is totally different than PSE4. Parts of it is much better, but my favorite "drop shadow" is no where to be found. Even searching "help" they talk about shadows on the face, not the frame sort of drop shadow...
Just so it's clear to everyone .... Breeze Browser is notfor editing individual photos. In fact, in the initial set-up Breeze will link to your primary editor .... and when you select Edit>Edit Image while working in Breeze, it simply opens up the image in your primary editor in a new window.
What Breeze does do beautifully is batch conversions -- say you shot a bunch of images in RAW format and you need to change them all to JPG in a hurry....
And Breeze creates attractive web galleries. My favorite feature.
I use the big brother, Photoshop, so I don't know the ins and outs of Photoshop Elements.
But for anyone that's unhappy with Elements, and not interested in using Photoshop, have you looked at Paint Shop Pro? At lot of people in the old Compuserve Photo Forum swear by it. Some others love Picture Window ...
I've used Paint Shop Pro in the past, looking at the web page now, I'm thinking I might buy this new version to play with. I don't have any personal experience with Picture window.
Try this. I hope it's clearer to you than it is to me, but a friend passes along these instructions. It sound like it is now under "artwork and effects" as opposed to "styles and effects"
First go to the "Window" menu at the top of PSE5 and make sure there is a check mark by "Artwork and Effects". Then, if there is no extra window at the right of the image screen, click on the dark gray bar with an arrow at the middle of the right frame of PSE. This opens the palette bin. There should be the title "Artwork and Effects" in this narrow window. If there is nothing under that, click on the little arrow to the left of the title. Now click on the little icon that looks like three bubbles and a star. This opens up the special effects. Now click on the left dropdown menu, find "Layer Styles", and you're in business! The dropdown menu on the right then gives you the choice of the subcategories.
Including random thoughts on life, art, business, stuff, and occasionally Real Estate.
What is a CAT BLOG?
According to Seth Godin: "Cat blogs are for, by, and about the person blogging. A cat blog is about your cat and your dating travails and your boss and whatever else you feel like sharing in your public diary."
Well, I am the boss, my dating years are behind me, but I do love my cats.

Can you batch process into the drop shadow too?
