Get more Exposure for your Blog posts by Joining Groups
A quick Tutorial
I recently wrote a post about Saving your Posts in the Draft mode for later publication. I was shocked by the number of bloggers who did not know about this feature.
The post was created because I was helping an AR member. While writing the explanation in an email, it occurred to me to just write a post.
Fast forward. The same AR member, who so far has remained nameless, is not putting his posts into groups. I've been nagging him about groups for weeks months.
Yesterday I left a comment on his post and finally said "Groups Conrad, Groups! Am I going to have to write a blog post about this???"
He answered "YES", so here it is:
How to post your blog in Groups on ActiveRain
The first thing you need to do is Join some Groups. There are several ways to do this. Click on the Group button n the tool bar. It will take you to the Group page.
On the left will be the Groups you can choose from and the Groups that you're already in. You can drop the window and scroll through the groups, choosing the ones that sound interesting to you.
On the Right side of the page, will be the Most Active Groups.
See the diagram below here:
Assuming you don't belong to any groups already, you're going to pick out groups you would like to join. Let's start with 5, but pick however many you want.
You can select from the popular groups on the right side by clicking on one of them.
Once you're in the group, the group's rules will be posted on the left side along with the Founder of the Group's name, the number of members in the group and how many posts have been posted by the group.
Under that will be the "Join Group" tab. Click on that and you now belong to that group.
Another way to find groups to join is to look at the bottom of a post that you're reading.
After the Tags, but before the Comments, will be a list of groups that the post has been put in. Sometimes I'll discover groups I don't know about by reading a post that I like. You can click on the link right there in the post and go to the group.
Now that you've joined some groups, they will show up in your My Groups area on your post. It's important to remember that you can only put the blog post in 5 groups.
You want to make sure that the blog post is relevant to that group.
Don't put listings and market reports in groups that are about something else. the Group Moderators may delete the post.
The biggest reason to post to groups is to make your blog post visible to more ActiveRain members. Unless someone is subscribed to you, or you're featured on the home page, you post scrolls off the blog page quickly sometimes. The Scroll time on a Group can be much slower, thus exposing your post to more people.
Try it. Let me know how it works.
Happy Blogging.
