BUSINESS LUNCHEON...$185......your thoughts?

I attended a business luncheon where the food was gratis to me. I always follow the lead of the host on what to order, drink etc. We are at a Fish place that is very expensive. I join in and the three of us ordered the following meal. We had a three hour productive meeting. The bill came to $185 and if you look at it as renting a space with food....

It is easier to digest that way. Now I had a good time. But we could have had a great time at In & Out for about $15 but hamburger brings out...well hamburger subjects and seafood brings out...well your wallet...I will show you what we got for the money...you be the judge

They start you out with a drink and serve you fresh bread and butter

Then, an appetizer...in this case a shrimp and crab

Oysters on the half shell....

oyster shooters.....

clam chowder...

calamari, french fries and cole slaw

king crab legs and macaron & cheesei

bread pudding in whiskey sauce

I ate my fill. I had a good time and I enjoyed the meeting and the company. I am not complaining, just sharing. Do you thing the value is there?

That's a lot of food at lunch! That would be enough food for the week. I think you could have had just as productive a meeting for a lot less (money and food). Just my opinion.

Looks delicious, Richie.  I'd say the $60-ish each is worth it if you came away with some future business, or if the host was "picking your brain."  Think of it as a consulting fee covered in cocktail sauce.

All of the big Internet and computer companies starting back with Microsoft and Apple provide services for their employees these days. And when gunning for big players they seem to role out the "better" food. So there is a culture to showing how much you care for someones business in how you woo them. The reverse psychology also works. This week I need to ask my tenant if he wants his air conditioning fixed for the 3 days he might need it here in the Pacific Northwest, or does he want the rent to remain the same for yet another year.

I intend to remove the heat pump eventually anyway, once he is gone. It has no value to me.

Its worth it if you had a good time, had healty food and enjoyed the company. Consider it cheap therapy.

Peggy...I wanted you opinion and your observations are valid....The portions were small, but there was a lot of food...thank you

Nancy...good input. BTW, there was a lot of brain-picking

Glenn...I can relate to your thinking no problem....I have even used that process more than once...worked every-time. The person who called this meet and greet wanted food to be part of his message...I obliged

Gloria...your comment says a lot about you and your easy to get to know you flow at work...good stuff and thank you

Seems reasonable Richie, 7 courses and a 3 hour block with a positive result.  Time & money well spent.  Here, I would expect it to be tough to duplicate for much less than $250, sans tip.

As much as I love seafood, now I have a craving for In N Out! Good thing there's one just a few minutes from my house.
