I feel like today was Deja Vu all over again.

I visited a nice customer today in Scarsdale. As soon as I walked in the house, I "recogized" it. No, I hadn't actually been to this house, but I saw the exact same house shape/form (from the inside) as another customer from a year ago who lives in White Plains (also a nice customer).

Ironically, they both found me on Service Magic, they both were redoing their kitchens, they both got their cabinets and silestone from Home Depot (similar color scheme. They both wanted laminate flooring (on top of vinyl). It was rather surreal for me.

I found a laminate that looks like Brazilian Cherry and goes perfectly with their cabinets and countertops. It looks great and really ties everything together. I also seemed to connect well with my customer. Crossing my fingers that they say "yes."

It was really interesting to see so many similarities between these 2 couples, their styles and their tastes.

Dear Debbie -
I guess their similar tastes drew them to similar architecture and color schemes.
I'm surprised to hear of that similarity between two such different towns as Scarsdale and White Plains.
(Well, at least 45 years ago when I was there - the towns were very different.)

I think this is something that you would be seeing more. We watch the same advertising, read the same magazines, and there is little wonder that our tastes are more in line than they are individual.

I do not think there is a problem with it. Yes, the decor of a house in Nevada may be similar to decor in Florida, wich was not the case just 50 years ago, but this isnot the biggest loss

Lynn - You're so right. And, yes, Scarsdale and White Plains are very different. Both of these couples are very grounded and non pretentious and just nice people.

Jon - Oh, that's true ture. And, I do see that more & more. But, it is not very common for in these neighborhoods to put laminate on the kitchen floors, so it stuck out even more. In these areas, it's more common to do hardwood or tile. Nonetheless, this option works perfectly for these couples usage wise, style-wise and budget wise.

Too funny Debbie! Were they related? My sister was just in high school when my husband and I got married. We lived out of state so I was really surprised 7 years or so later when she got married and I found out she had picked the same China as I did. She is 8 years younger than me but apparently we have a lot of funny similarities that our husbands would discover about us and tease us about every chance they could.

It is always surreal when we have those deja vu moments in our line of work. I remember one particular instance where I sold a home on a corner of a certain street, to a family with the last name of "Stevens." Then a couple years later, sold another home on a corner, and on the same street, to a family by the name of "Stephens." Sounded the same, spelled differently. The family dynamics of each was very different however.
