Good News Gardening, Hood River, Oregon

It's that time of year... time to get planting, both flower and vegetable gardens. Here in the mountains, we're still getting frost at night, especially higher up like in Parkdale (where we live). So we're putting in the cold weather veggies like green beans and peas, as well as flowers like pansies that can stand the cold better than most others.

One of the most popular nurseries in Hood River is Good News Gardening. They have a huge selection of annuals, perrenials, rose bushes, trees, shrubs, herbs, berries, grapes, veggies etc. They also have expert staff to help make the best decisions for your garden and to advise on subjects like insecticides and fertilizers.

The other reason Good News Gardening is so popular is for it's Garden Cafe, right at the nursery. The cafe features all organic and fresh, carefully and artfully prepared dishes sure to please any appetite. Soups, salads, sandwiches, coffee and desserts make up the menu, which can change daily based on what's best in the garden at the time.

Nursery Hours: Mon-Sat: 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Sun: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Garden Cafe Hours: Everyday, 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

We have planted a few things and even had to cover a couple things on those colder nights. But, it looks like we are going to have a week of dry weather and a chance to let the sun do its magic.

I think we have made it past the frosty nights here in ND but you never know for sure until July! Hope to get the garden in over the weekend but they are forcasting rain so it just may have to wait one more week.
