WOW! IT'S WILD WEDNESDAY - HOW UNIQUE IS THAT?

DO YOU BLEND IN?

I discovered these Blanketflowers growing along the roadside on 423 in Little Elm on Tuesday, May 17. Notice how well they blend in together. Do you find that you blend in too? These wildflowers are extremely tolerant of dry soil conditions and well suited for Texas climate. They bloom throughout the summer and make excellent cut flowers in floral arrangements. Typically, they bloom in June. They must be early bloomers!

OR ARE YOU UNIQUE?

Just as these wildflowers need a certain environment for maximum growth, people also need the right amount of sun and water to grow best too. Some need to be nurtured in a group. But every now and then you find one that pops up independently and that's what makes it unique. I find myself drawn to the ones that are unique. I noticed that this one was less centered, but more balanced. Is there an opportunity for you to be more unique?

Joni,

Kerrie is an extraordinary marketeer! I'm glad you'll be coming to Dallas for RainCamp. I'm going to try, but I can't promise. If you have a chance, call me or text me when you're in the area.

I hope you have many roadside wildflowers for your enjoyment. But I have to warn you, there's lots of construction so plan to get here early. These wildflowers were off the beaten path near Frisco and the Colony in Little Elm.

I hope to see you again when you're in Dallas!

Patricia

I couldn't agree with you more, "wildflowers sure do have a mighty fine way of blending where ever you find them a growing." Thank you for the feature on the WildWednesday group. What a pleasant surprise! I am very grateful for this honor. This is a great group and the posts are always refreshing to read - educational too!

Thanks for the great work you, Carl and Ceil Winters are doing for the members of ActiveRain.

Ricki,

Thank you! I think they exemplify our American Wildflower culture and rank as high as the Texas Bluebonnets, or any native State Flower.

I appreciate your comments and I hope your day will be filled with happiness!

Hi Patricia, I think only in Texas do you find such abundance of wildflowers blooming alongside roadways.  There is some of this in Florida too but not to this extend.  It's absolutely stunning.  Promise to show us the bluebonnets when they are in bloom!

P.S. Now I have to check out the Wild Wednesday group... didn't know about it yet!  :-)

Patricia, I just took a second look at your title and theme, I really like it, I wrote a similar wordless Wednesday a few weeks ago:  Wordless Wednesday-Is It Possible to Blend In, But Still Stand Out?

What a beautiful blanket of flowers. I'd be stopping on the side of the road and take cuttings if have these in my area... that might make me unique. :)

Brian,

I just checked your post written on 4/27 and I have to say, that's a beautiful bird and your're right! The content is very similar. However, I have to assure you, it was purely coincidental. I was in Europe from 4/19 through 5/2 and had no access to a computer, plus I didn't have time to go back to previous posts since I got back. Would you mind posting that post to the  Birds Group? I know Gloria and the Group would enjoy it very much! It's so unique!!! That has got to be one of the most beautiful birds I've ever seen!

Thanks for coming back and bringing this to my attention. May you have a great day, and thanks again.

Yolanda,

I hadn't thought about that! You're right, they would make great cuttings. Have a great and wonderful day!

Patricia, thank you for the well written response to my comment. Your writing skills are exceptional. I had a visual of you standing on the roadside with your camera in hand. I could also see the owl that had you in awe while in Switzerland. We are all unique in our own ways. Some people, like flowers, tend to stand out while others are content being wall flowers. You have a knack for finding the uniquness in your surroundings.

Craig - thank you for your valuable feedback. Written communication, in brief format, such as a post on a Blog, Twitter, or FaceBook can often be misinterpreted. Yours was very clear and gave me an opportunity to expand further. Thank you for giving me that opportunity to reflect a little deeper. I think your writing skills are also exceptional. I appreciate that very much! I'm glad you could visualize what I looked like standing on the road, getting down there on the ground, with my camera taking pictures or the frozen statute like pose I gave to that Snowy Owl. In our world, we are often drawn to the bigger picture, such as a roadside setting filled with perfect flowers spread out like a blanket. I don't know if I would have noticed the single flower, if I the group didn't already get my attention. There's an important lesson I learned - both are equally important.

I completely agree with you, "We are all unique in our own ways. Some people, like flowers, tend to stand out while others are content being wall flowers." Either way, it takes courage to be part of a group or to stand alone. In both examples, I was inspired and compelled to act in the moment. Perhaps the other lesson I learned here, is that for me, it isn't that important to compare myself to others in a group, as it is to appreciate my very own uniqueness.

Thanks again Craig! Without the lens of my camera you helped me to see things more clearly.

Patricia
