When you become a parent for the first, second, third or even fourth time you experience the joy, the wonders and the curiosity of parenthood. It is not a feeling that you get used to, nor is it a feeling that ever goes away. Parenting is a one of the most amazing journeys a person can face. That is why it is so devastating when a marriage is torn apart and both parents deem it necessary to go to court and allow somebody who doesn’t even know their family, to decide the fate of their children.

I have been here and back several times, getting rung out by ex in a court room. After many years of fighting, paying attorneys and court fees and destroying our children, we both found ourselves sitting out our dining room table last year asking ourselves “why on earth did we ever allow this to happen?” If you are about to enter into the battle of your life because you think that you deserve custody for one reason or another, I want to give you a few things to think about from personal experience, I mean this! I am not a doctor, a lawyer or a scientist. I am a human being who has been where you are right now: full of anger, fear, strength, adrenalin and courage to fight the battle.

To give you a little background, I am a young mother who has no experience in life. I have two beautiful children, a short lived marriage and a short change job. I have a home, that now that I am single I have to work myself to the bone for, giving me very little time to spend with those two beautiful children and for years I spent what little time I would have had with them, preparing for court. Was it worth it? No.
