How To Prepare Your Home For Sale in Wilton CT #6

You may want to read the previous post first about How To Prepare Your Home For Sale

For the month of May 2011, we at Dagny's Real Estate will post one post per day explaining how you should   prepare your home for sale.

Find a good Real Estate Agent or Realtor

Interview the Realtors

Search for a Realtor

We have previously spoken of the process of finding a good Realtor.

Now we will move into the next part of the process.    That process is to declutter, organize, and begin to neutralize the home for sale.

The home needs to begin to transform from a "home" into a "product."   It is like taking a platter from the kitchen shelf, and placing it into a display in a store to market to be sold.   You would scrub it, package it to be the most attractive possible, and place it in prominent view for everyone to see.

The first part - scrub means the same as deep cleaning your home of its clutter, dirt, and anything personal.    You are getting ready to then turn it into the best product on the shelf!

Start scrubbing!

You will find that as you clean, you also clean out - keep your eye on what will help the house sell, and what will not - do you want to keep it?   Find charitable organizations to give to.  The less you move, the less the cost to move.

Ask your Realtor for guidance throughout the process - she has done this many more times than you, and may have some great ideas or tips for you!

Your new agent and you, the seller, should be a TEAM - work things out together - it is your home, after all, but they are the experienced professional.....

You also know that the agent is well versed in using the internet for the marketing of your home for sale.   That is a very important key element that will be discussed later in the month in this series.

Dagny - Best explanation of what "cleaning your home" really means in preparing your home for the market.  Beautifully and powerfully written:

The home needs to begin to transform from a "home" into a "product."   It is like taking a platter from the kitchen shelf, and placing it into a display in a store to market to be sold.   You would scrub it, package it to be the most attractive possible, and place it in prominent view for everyone to see.
