In Real Estate one of the hazzards that is often not thought of is being bitten by a dog. Real Estate agents and their clients are walking into a strange house often with no knowledge of a dogs temperment,  home owners should remove the dogs from the home prior to showings but many do not.

TIPS ON PREVENTING DOG BITES

1. Never run past or from a dog, it is the dogs natural instinct to chase after you.
2. If a dog is threatening you, do not scream, avoid eye contact, remain motionless and back away slow when the dog walks away.
3. Never approach a strange dog
4. Do not pet a dog without asking the owner first and always let teh dog sniff you before petting
5. If the dog is about to attack , try and put something between yo in the dog like furniture, pillow, backpack, bicycle or such.

Please feel free to comment or add any tips you may have

Thanks All

Great tips! I've always thought REALTORS and Mail carriers were in the same category when it comes to animals. just yesterday I came face to face with what was supposed to be a "very docile dog". She just stood there challenging me to move and I did just as you said. I stepped backward very slowly and made a wide circle around her. Your list could save a few fingers. :)

Hi Scott!  Did you happen to read the post the other day about a poodle biting an agent on the butt?  That showing was canceled!

Funny! BUT great advice Scott!  Recently I was showing a home & a cute kitten got into the linen closet; buyer tried to get it out and was "attacked" by the cute kitten - scratched the buyer up!!!   From now on...I'm not friendly with the pets no matter what!

Animals are Animals after all, no matter how cute... If you are not familiar with them, you need to use caution, thank you for the comment Nellie
