Integrity....

Integrity, the word makes people uncomfortable because everyone and I mean everyone has flawed integrity.  We break diets (daily), don't exercise enough, tell people we'll call or do something and forget, delay or just don't do it.  And I'll leave the big integrity breakers to your imagination.  But and this is a big but (not like the big butt referred to in diets above)

Real Estate Agents, particularly the successful ones are a group of the business people with the greatest integrity.  I know this from my experience with thousands.  They have to be.  Here's why.

Integrity works in Real Estate.  Keeping your word makes your business stronger.  The more of that you bring to your business the stronger it gets.

Oh sure there are others.  Heck, I met a doctor, an orthopedic surgeon early in his career who told me he would do surgery on a knee instead of just casting it because he needed more cash for a down payment.  I nearly vomited it struck me so hard.  There are high and low integrity people in every profession.  In Real Estate it is just so much easier to have integrity and the payoff is so big.

Remember this, good, better, best.  Never let it rest.  Until the good is better and the better best.  I used to teach that to my children.  It could be the mantra for success in Real Estate and life.

Sadly, many (not all) people who are paid by transaction will increase their expenditure in line with their income. The trouble is that things change and incomes fall - but car payments don't go away. They believe their living style is their 'right' rather than a reward for virtuous, honest work.

The problem lies in the fact that there is, pretty much, no real consumer protection in any industry so disreputable people are unlikely to be outed.

We are responsible for our own actions which include what we do when faced with wrongdoing by others.
