Technically speaking resort buyers include anyone seeking to purchase a resort property.  Would you agree?  I guess this covers everything from a one-room cottage by a lake to a hotel property on the ocean.  Decision factors that you as a buyer may consider likely will vary greatly.  Finding the right primary home involves many different perspectives and decisions.  Some are objective and others, subjective.  You're probably already acquainted with the decision process that factored your primary home purchases. 

Subjective factors include the feel of the neighborhood, quality of local schools, community involvement, cultural amenities, and then there is the actual house.  These included architectural style and decor, actual amenities of the home.  There are more decisions you made, I am sure.  The objective side of this includes price range,

       financing options, taxes, home size, proximity to work and shopping.

A resort buyer takes in many of these factors in as well.  But you will also look at other factors.  Is there income generating opportunity, property management available if you as the buyer are living elsewhere, usage questions such as access to beaches, skiing or other fun things, local restrictions and zoning, transportation and access to airports during all different seasons.  To be a good resort agent I need to be knowledgeable about such things. I need to be a Wikipedia of information for you

Its all about helping you as the buyers to walk through a host of decisons on another level above that of the primary home purchases you've made in the past.  If this is an investment there may be no greater expertise I have than to understanding investment decisions.  When assisting, I must stay abreast of information on tax advantages and consequences and be able to offer some analysis and strategy and know who to recommend to you for the most important decisions in these areas.

So for what it is I do it is a bit different.  It is not more difficult or that I do anything better or worse than primary home markets agents, it is just different.  In some of the skill sets needed by me a requirement for advanced training.  Not only do we know our own community lifestyles but that of similar resort markets, communities and cultures as well.  Our primary product is the same everywhere, real estate.

Not everything is objective.  We do sell sizzle and the resort and lifestyle.
