Moving to a new city (or already living in one) and finding a good musician and/or band to go listen to can be challenging. Often the best are found through word of mouth. Colorado Springs' own Joe Uveges has a great line-up starting this Saturday with not only great music (and some fellow musicians) but also incredible venues that are truly "the secret places" everyone always wants to find.
Sat. May 21. Mayfest at High Plains Church 12-5pm. Micro Brew Beer Tasting, Carnival Games, Bouncy House, Great Food, Live Music, Mini Golf, Beer Brewing Demo and Scottish Country Dance Demo. $20 entry, kids under 12 FREE. This event is located where the old Montasia Putt Putt Golf course is (which IS the High Plains UU Church location) on Academy at Dominion.
Thurs. May 26th 'THE BEST OF' WITH 'THE BEST OF' AT 'THE BEST OF' . Stargazers Theater (Best Music Venue) 7pm (doors open at 6pm come have dinner) will host this event. Warren Epstein, Arts and Entertainment Editor will MC a lineup that includes: Lacey Maynard (Best Actress) Stick Horses in Pants (Best Comedy Troupe) , Jake Loggins (Best Blues Rock) Fritz Genato (who fronts 6035) with special guest Toby Kinnaman (Best Band Performances), and Joe Uveges (Best Solo Musician). Each act will get about 30 minutes. 7Pm show. Tickets $10 prepay $13 door Tickets available through Joe Uveges or through Stargazers.
Wed. June 1st. Hillside Gardens 6:30pm 8:30pm. 106 S. Institute C.S. CO. (Some nominal cover fee or maybe it's free.)
Thurs. June 23rd The MODBO (Best Art Gallery 2010 and 2011). Very funky intimate space with packed seating at only 40 people. Acoustic. $10 donations prepay requested. 8Pm show. Tuesday July 5th. The Secret Garden 7pm show. $5 cover. Located 420 S. 19th St. (Take 21st St. North from Hwy 24 just one block. Take your first right and go east 2 blocks and park.

Monday, July 11th Friends of Monument Valley Concert Series, on the green behind the Fine Art Center on North Cascade. Performing with Jim Sokol and KJ Braithwaite doing a cover/original mix of 3 part harmony oriented tunes.
