Necessary quiet time

It is amazing how much can be fitted into a week and there is still a busy weekend to go. Two allnighters will have me looking for rest on Sunday.

Some people call it time management, but time is possessed of a finite amount.  Others complain that they need more hours in a day (not likely unless they make use time zones and are prepared to trade other personal pursuits). We don't really "manage" time, merely rearranging it to be more efficient, prioritizing, if you will.

I have never been one to claim multi-tasking ability, not being considered to be a male pursuit, although in cases of being wife-driven I have been known occasionally to approach that state.

In a week where CL has needed medical tests, I have been able to be in the vicinity by rearranging my daily plans. Long ago I realized that I needed to work to a plan, not just any one with fixed dates, times and activities, but a plan that contained everything I had to achieve, but that had flexibility, as well, to allow for shuffles, changes and time over runs. This flexibility comes from quiet time each day to consider progess, impending deadlines and ad hoc activity. A daily look at my short and long term goals has been with me for so long that it is now a habit. Combine this with my gratitude notations, and quiet time, in my life, definitely a "must", is also a pleasure.

Whether it be daily, weekly, or otherwise, everyone needs to take the time to recharge the batteries. Quiet time is a way of doing it. The brain functions better when organized. Enjoy the day!

Hi Larry~ One line really stands out for me. When you said:

Ah-Ha!

Recharge and move forward.

Have a relaxing weekend...

Quiet time is lacking in many of our lives. I miss it.

Wayne - recharging is good. However I have found some holidays to be more wearing than measured work.

Judi - you picked it! Part of dumbing down and control, involves keeping people fully occupied (using up all their time by say, TV watching) or so that there is little time for individual thought, as this implies dissent.

Maria - my quiet time goes back to monastic days in the 60s. Life was so simple then, yet so profound. Now I have to work hard to ensure my quiet time. I hope you get yours.

Larry,

Quiet time or time to yourself is a necessity.  If you don't take some time to yourself, you will burn out.  Alone time is time for you to regroup and do some thinking, not to mention sometimes just enjoy.  No matter what you do, always allow some "me" time.

Brigita
