For some reason, my experience with going from paper and phone to smart phone and iPad keeps reminding me of this Native American Hopi proverb: All Dreams Spin Out of the Same Web. It is beyond challenging to merge the physical world of showing Santa Fe properties to people face-to-face while at the same time be in a stream of online conversations about ongoing transactions. Today, it appears all we do in real estate is spinning out of the web and into a rapidly evolving new way to communicate and buy and sell real estate.  Given this extraordinary speed of change and the merging of technology and communication with real estate information, I had no time to intuitively learn one more tool! I went back to using something familiar like paper and a book instead of a Kindle or ebook or online manual to explore my all in one iPad. There was something strange about walking into Santa Fe's last remaining Borders bookstore and looking for a book on a shelf. I settled on this one. Why? It is bigger than my iPad!

Where this mobility will take me is still unknown in this new landscape of real estate.  Today was another day when I did something for the first time. How about you? Are you doing things for the first time?

The Santa Fe real estate market is a local one. Real estate news reports and trends in other communities does not apply here. Search all current properties here with a fast and easy list or map search. If you are thinking about selling your home or considering a lifestyle change in relocating to Santa Fe, I suggest you give me a call at 505-660-4541 to schedule a real estate consultation. No one has time or money to waste in this new landscape of real estate. I am available to help you and make a positive difference in your real estate experience. Remember, dreams can be made a reality when you act on them. Emily Medvec

I use technology only if it makes things easier or better.  The iPad will make some things more convenient - you will have faster access to information, for example.

I have paper-based systems of keeping track of my prospects, clients and calendar, my list of things to do, my phone log.  I have a large stack of floppy disks that have information stored on them that I can no longer access because I don't have any technology that is low-functioning enough to use that storage mode.  Paper records will be here in the next century.

And, I like your web quote.  It is a nice metaphysical ending to my day.

Thanks for your post!

Scott, I agree. Faster access to information is leverage for my clients. The key as always is the experience and know-how to be able to evaluate it and provide results.

Judith, I use 3x5 cards for a variety of things because no batteries are required! The Hopi people have wisdom which is timeless for beginning and ending everyday.

Barbara, no kidding, we should start a first time club! We have one Kindle and lots of books in the library. Thank you for your support!

Judith (NC), thank you! Without your support and our dialogue here, all this change would be overwhelming. And now, guess what? It is another day. Journey well in this new landscape of real estate.

Hi Emily, I prefer to read a book "hands-on" rather than on a Kindle or online as well.  William Johnson just founded a new group IPad users, maybe it'll be something for you to join as well:  http://activerain.com/groups/iPadUserGroup

Have  a great weekend!

Emily, I am running out of room in my brain to remember all the new stuff.  Every time I learn some new techie thing it is replaced by another.  Pen and Paper is starting to sound pretty good. :) :) :)
